A G-CHAM program and policy development curriculum using simulated executive review in undergraduate public health nursing education.

BACKGROUND: Public health nurses in Japan commonly work in administrative settings and are expected to translate community health assessment findings into feasible programs and policies through organizational decision making, negotiation, and budgeting. However, undergraduate public health nursing education provides limited opportunities for students to experience this administrative program and policy development process. This study describes a G-CHAM program and policy development curriculum using simulated executive review and presents an initial assessment of changes in students' self asse

Mapping social implications of wearables to monitor physical activity in palliative care - a qualitative approach.

BACKGROUND: Reduced physical activity is common among patients receiving palliative care. Wearables and other measurement devices offer opportunities to objectively monitor activity and support clinical decision-making and patient motivation. However, integrating such technologies into palliative care may affect care delivery, including routines, interactions and underlying principles. Given the strong emphasis on interpersonal relationships and patient-centeredness in this setting, wearables may entail specific social implications. This study therefore aims to map the social implications of u

Exploring Second Victim Syndrome and Support Resource Perceptions Among Nurses in a Teaching Tertiary Care Hospital.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: The assessment of second-victim phenomena within health care organizations and the evaluation of existing support systems are crucial for health care leaders. However, there is a paucity of evidence highlighting nurses' perceptions associated with the physical and psychological distress they experience following an adverse event in lower and middle-income countries (LMIC). Hence, this study aims to explore the magnitude of second-victim experiences among nurses and their perceptions of support resources available. Support systems focusing on training and resilience i

Primary Care Doctors' Perspectives and Experiences With a Chest X-Ray AI Triage Program: Qualitative Study.

BACKGROUND: AI has the potential to support chest X-ray (CXR) triage in primary care, but adoption depends on whether clinicians perceive its outputs as credible, useful, and workable within routine clinical workflows. Evidence on how primary care doctors experience AI-supported CXR triage in real-world practice remains limited. OBJECTIVE: This study explored primary care doctors' perspectives on a pilot CXR-AI program and identified barriers and enablers influencing adoption during early implementation. METHODS: We conducted a qualitative descriptive study in a Singapore public primary care

Assessing the impact of pediatric-based development services on infants, families, and clinicians: challenges to evaluating the Health Steps Program.

BACKGROUND: Begun in 1996, the Healthy Steps for Young Children Program (HS) is a new model of pediatric practice that incorporates child development specialists and enhanced developmental services for families of young children. HS is for all families, not just those at high-risk. It is expected to strengthen parents' knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors in ways that promote child health and development, and in turn, to lead to improved child outcomes, such as improved language development, increased utilization of well child care, and decreased problem behaviors, hospitalizations, and injurie

Novice nurses' sleep disturbance trajectories within the first 2 years of work and actual turnover: A prospective longitudinal study.

BACKGROUND: Novice nurses experience radical changes in their sleep-wake cycle and sleep difficulties after exposure to a rotating shift work schedule. The link between workplace hardship and employee turnover may be dependent on factors at the individual level, e.g., individual health. Nurses with sleep disturbance are more vulnerable to stressful stimuli and lack resilience at work compared with those without sleep disturbance. OBJECTIVES: To classify novice nurses according to sleep disturbance trajectories during the first 2 years of work, to compare turnover rates according to trajectory

Skilled Nursing Facility Network Capacity and Hospital Length of Stay.

IMPORTANCE: Delays in hospital discharge to skilled nursing facilities (SNFs) are widely viewed by hospital administrators and policymakers as a significant contributor to hospital crowding and adverse patient outcomes. However, the extent to which regional SNF capacity is associated with hospital length of stay (LOS) is not well understood. OBJECTIVES: To construct empirically derived hospital-SNF markets using a network science approach and to examine whether variation in SNF capacity within these markets is associated with hospital LOS. DESIGN, SETTING, AND PARTICIPANTS: This cross-sectio

"If there is no data, how do we improve?" Exploring health workers' perspective on stillbirth recording in the Ashanti Region of Ghana.

BACKGROUND: Health workers play a critical role in documenting the estimated 2 million stillbirths that occur annually. From the moment a stillbirth occurs, a health worker is responsible for recording the birth outcome. The reliability of stillbirth data for informing global and national-level strategies on stillbirths depends on the information recorded by the health worker at the point of care. This study aimed to gain insights into the health worker practices and challenges related to stillbirth recording and reporting. METHODS: The qualitative study explored three objectives using an a pr

The Feasibility of Implementing Interprofessional Collaboration-Based Telecare Services for Patients With Tuberculosis: A Mixed Methods Study From Hospital Insight.

BACKGROUND: Tuberculosis (TB) remains a major global health challenge and is a leading cause of mortality in low- and middle-income countries. Indonesia continues to record one of the world's highest TB burdens. Persistent gaps in treatment adherence and continuity of care remain, despite various national initiatives. Achieving the national TB elimination target requires innovative, patient-centered approaches. These must be supported by interprofessional collaboration (IPC) and digital health interventions. This study aimed to assess the feasibility of implementing telecare-based IPC services

Risk Assessment of Workplace Violence Against Nurses: How Data Collection Methods Influence Results-A Swedish and Italian Cross-Sectional Study.

Background/Objectives: Workplace violence (WV) against healthcare workers (HCWs) is a major hazard all over the world. Prevention requires a reliable risk assessment. The rate of HCWs reporting a violent event varies considerably across multi-year retrospective studies compared to periodic surveys. We conducted a rapid observational study to demonstrate that data collection methods are more important than socio-cultural and healthcare organizational differences in determining the frequency of reported violence. Methods: In June 2025, in a cross-sectional observational comparison, we examined a

Integrating accompanying patients into clinical oncology teams: limiting and facilitating factors.

OBJECTIVES: Since 2018, four establishments in Quebec have been instrumental in implementing the PAROLE-Onco program, which introduced accompanying patients (APs) into healthcare teams to improve cancer patients' experience. APs are patient advisors who have acquired specific experiential knowledge related to living with cancer, using services, and interacting with healthcare professionals. They are therefore in a unique and reliable position to be able to provide emotional, informational, cognitive and navigational support to patients who are dealing with cancer. We aimed to explore APs' pers

[Substance use among older residents in residential and long-term care facilities: A scoping review on intervention practices].

Objectives Residential and long-term care facilities struggle to support older residents who experience a loss of autonomy, use psychoactive substances and face issues related to their consumption. Substance use can interact negatively with other physical, mental health or social conditions (e.g., homelessness) to create particularly complex profiles. In Quebec, as in many other countries around the world, there are often no clear guidelines for the care of elderly residents using psychoactive substances. The purpose of this study is to document the characteristics of existing interventions an
