Chronic administration of delta 8- and delta 9-tetrahydrocannabinols (4 mg/kg b.wt. i.p.) to sexually developing male rats every alternate day from age day 16 to age day 87 resulted in a significant decrease in pubertal growth spurts, especially the second peak. When pimozide was given to maturing rats, a rise in the level of prolactin in the serum was accompanied by a fall in LH. There was also incomplete initiation of spermatogenesis as well as simultaneous adrenal hypertrophy. Bilateral adrenalectomy failed to prevent hyperprolactinaemia-induced antispermatogenic response, while a significant ameliorating effect was observed with LH, indicating that hyperprolactinaemia influenced the quantitative initiation of spermatogenesis by affecting the secretion of LH.

The fertility-inhibiting effects of long-term (8 weeks) consumption of maize infected with a fungus producing F2 toxin (zearalenone) was studied in adult male and female albino rats. The fertility rate was further decreased by 25-30% if the animals were kept on contaminated diet up to 14 weeks. The gonadal weight was decreased, follicular maturation and spermatogenesis were disturbed. A case of change of sex at the age of twelve is reported in a patient with male pseudohermaphroditism who has been regularly followed-up for ten years after the change. This case exemplifies the maturation and identification problems which arise when the patient is assigned to the wrong sex as a result of organic abnormalities. The doubt concerning sexual identity which appears at the time of birth is instrumental in the child's psychic development and produces both intellectual dullness and libidinal fixation to preoedipal stages.

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Isolated premature menarche is isolated or recurrent vaginal bleeding in a female in the absence of appropriate secondary sexual characters.
METHODS: Retrospective chart review of patients with premature menarche, followed by a telephone questionnaire. Charts of patients evaluated in the Pediatric Endocrine Clinic for premature vaginal bleeding from 1982-2013 were reviewed.
RESULTS: Of 21 patients identified, 17 could be contacted. Five newly diagnosed patients were recruited during the course of the study. The median age at initial presentation was 7 years. Most patient

A synthetic steroid compound derived from testosteron (isoxazol-ethisterone), Danazol, with gonadotropin-depressing activity, was used in the treatment of 4 cases of idiopathis sexual precocity (age 2 1/2 to 4 years) and in 10 cases of severe pubertal gynaecomastia. In sexual precocity the suppression of menstruation as well as of breast-enlargement was good, while the suppression of acceleration of longitudinal growth and bone maturation was inferior compared with cyproteron-acetate.
