Our previous work found that in the presence of nitrite, titanium dioxide nanoparticles can cause protein tyrosine nitration under UVA irradiation in vivo. In this paper, the human keratinocyte cells was used as a skin cell model to further study the photo-toxicity of titanium dioxide nanoparticles when nitrite was present. The results showed that nitrite increased the photo-toxicity of titanium dioxide in a dose-dependant manner, and generated protein tyrosine nitration in keratinocyte cells. Surgical reconstructive treatment was done in 45 patients with fractures of lower wall of eye-socket in the clinic of maxillofacial surgery of MMA (named after I.M. Sechenov) during the period from July 2007 to July 2008. All fractures were cured with constructions from titanium nikelide. Use of implants from porous titanium nikelide let to shorten the operation time, to decrease the risk of infection joining, to prevent fibrous capsule formation along implant periphery that was essential in prevention of scarring and enophthalmia.

The aim of this study was to report 2 novel clinical cases of reactive lesions of the peri-implant mucosa associated with titanium dental implants where metal-like particles were observed histologically. In both cases, the lesions were diagnosed as epulis, based on clinical evidence. Extirpation biopsies were carried out. Forty-two intra-articular calcaneus fractures underwent open reduction and internal fixation with a low profile, titanium plate with a shape similar to the lateral aspect of the calcaneus. All 42 fractures healed without complication. There were no cases of hardware breakage. None of the patients were noted to have a loss of reduction.
