Relapsing polychondritis (RP) is a rare multisystem disorder affecting cartilaginous tissues, primarily of the ears, nose, larynx, and trachea. RP shows dermatologic manifestations in 35-50% of cases, and may show skin findings as the first sign of disease in 12% of affected patients. The literature has been reviewed for evidence of the efficacy of antiviral agents in both the prophylaxis and treatment of recurrent oral herpes simplex virus (HSV) infections and discussed by a panel of experts. An 8-year-old boy came to the Emergency Department with blood blisters on both lips, limiting him in his oral intake. He had no history of herpes simplex or use of any medication. The symptoms turned out to be caused by erythema exsudativum multiforme major, in most cases a self-limiting disease.

Two cases of subacute cutaneous lupus erythematosus are described. Features which delayed diagnosis are discussed. The potential clinical and histopathological overlap between this condition and erythema multiforme is emphasized, drawing attention to the histological features which allow distinction. The possibility that some cases of Rowell's syndrome may be manifestations of subacute lupus erythematosus is discussed.

This article reports the cases of two patients in whom a widespread dermatophyte infection mimicked the cutaneous lesions of their underlying collagen vascular disease. Griseofulvin may be associated with an increased incidence of adverse cutaneous reactions in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus. One patient with systemic lupus erythematosus developed erythema multiforme after taking griseofulvin.

Imiquimod is an immunomodulator with both antitumor and antiviral properties. It is currently available in two cream formulations as Aldara (imiquimod 5%) and the newly approved Zyclara (imiquimod 3.75%). Potassium iodide (KI) is a useful drug in the dermatologic armamentarium. It is successfully used for inflammatory dermatoses, most notably erythema nodosum, subacute nodular migratory panniculitis, nodular vasculitis, erythema multiforme, and Sweet's syndrome. Autoimmune progesterone dermatitis is a rare clinical condition in which patients display hypersensitivity to endogenous progesterone.
