The infusion rate of propofol which would produce anaesthesia, when combined with nitrous oxide in oxygen, was studied in 75 fit unpremedicated patients undergoing body surface operations. The infusion rates were based on multiples of the median dose required to produce anaesthesia by intermittent injection in an additional 20 patients. The scatter of doses showed a right skew, for both intermittent and continuous use. This was corrected by loge transformation and derived data presented graphically.

A 28 years old lady presented with Sprengels deformity and hemivertebrae for Fothergills surgery. Clinically there were no anomalies of the nervous, renal or the cardiovascular systems. She had a short neck and score on modified Mallapati test was grade 2. She was successfully anaesthetised using injection Propofol as a total intravenous anaesthetic agent after adequate premedication with injection Midazolam and injection Pentazocine. Lactate dehydrogenase-5 and creatine kinase from rabbit muscle were labeled by coupling with N-hydroxysuccinimidyl 3-(4'-hydroxy-[3',5'-125I]diiodophenyl)propionate. After purification, the analytical recovery of catalytically-active labeled enzyme averaged 90% for lactate dehydrogenase, 81% for creatine kinase. The labeled enzymes were injected intravenously into rabbits and disappearance from plasma of catalytic activity and radioactivity was measured. The disappearance curves for lactate dehydrogenase-5 differed considerably from those observed with the enzyme labeled by direct iodination.

We present a case of a 55-year-old woman requiring prolonged therapy with intravenous isoniazid and rifampin secondary to extensive bowel disease. We believe that this is the first U.S. report of a patient receiving both medications by the iv route. After months of therapy the patient has not experienced side effects secondary to this route of administration. We believe that iv isoniazid and rifampin provides a safe alternative method of delivery when clinical situations dictate this route.

Some patients with hyperprolactinaemia are unable to tolerate even low doses of oral bromocriptine. Infusions of hyperosmotic NaCl (2,400 mosmol/l; 4 ml/kg) were given to dogs in severe hemorrhagic hypotension by intravenous injection (72 expts) or intra-aortic injection (25 expts). In 46 experiments intravenous infusions were given during bilateral blockage of the cervical vagal trunks (local anesthesia or cooling).
