Human norovirus (HuNoV) is a major cause of acute viral gastroenteritis. Although it can be replicated in vitro using human intestinal enteroids (HIEs), generating high-titer viral laboratory stocks remains challenging due to low infection and passage efficiencies. BACKGROUND: The resistant rice stem borer (Chilo suppressalis) poses a serious threat to rice yield and food security. For two decades, fipronil was a key insecticide for its control, but its use has been restricted owing to the toxicity of its degradation products to aquatic life and bees. To develop superior alternatives, we structurally modified fipronil-5-amino through acylation, benzylation and carbamation, and evaluated the insecticidal activity of the resulting derivatives against resistant C. suppressalis, as well as their toxicity to zebrafish and honeybees.

A metal-free, iodine-mediated amination enables a one-pot synthesis of indole-embedded dihydropyrazoles with a broad substrate scope.
