We devised a technique to fix the temporalis muscle to the transplanted hydroxyapatite implant by using a titanium plate, which is fixed to the hydroxyapatite ceramic implant by screws and achieves good clinical results. The size, shape, and curvature of the hydroxyapatite ceramic implants were determined according to full-scale models fabricated using the laser lithographic modeling method from computed tomography data. We report a series of scaphoid fractures fixed with titanium alloy Herbert screws in which postoperative Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) was used to assess the marrow signal in the proximal pole of the scaphoid and thus detect the presence of avascular necrosis. Treatment of the atrophic maxilla using an onlay bone-grafting technique in combination with simultaneous insertion of endosteal implants (Branemark System) was performed in 17 patients. They were followed during a 3-year period. At the end of this period, 14 patients had stable bridges in use and one patient had an overdenture. An expandable titanium intraprostatic stent was inserted into 30 patients with infravesical obstruction due to benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
