The granulomatous disease tuberculosis (TB) is brought on by the bacteria Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Skeletal TB is involved in 10-35% of extra-pulmonary reported cases worldwide, with the most common kind being tuberculous spondylitis (Pott's disease). Depending upon the extent of spinal engagement, the clinical presentation may include back pain, discomfort, neurological abnormalities, as well as other clinical signs like temperature, malaise, and loss of weight. The multidisciplinary therapeutic care of Pott's illness is centered on a particular medicinal therapy, on-demand surgery, and a

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effects of resection of sacrum and TSRH-3 d internal fixation of the pelvis in treatment of lumbo-sacral tuberculosis.
METHODS: twenty-eight cases with lumbo-sacral tuberculosis, including 17 cases in L5 approximately S1, 11 cases in L5 approximately S2, 4 cases in L5 approximately S3, 4 cases in S(1 approximately 3)2; underwent resection of sacrum and TSRH-3 d internal fixation of the pelvis, followed by corresponding chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Follow-up was conducted for 8 approximately 48 months.
RESULTS: The short-term outcomes were satisfactory with red

Thirty four cases of tuberculous meningitis in children of 6 months to 8 years of age are reviewed. Maximum frequency (44% of the cases) correspond to 0.5 to 2 year age group. In 55.8% of the cases symptoms appeared less than 20 days before admission to hospital. On admission 24% of the cases were in stage I, 64.7% in stage II and 11.7% in stage III according to the criteria of the Medical Research Council. None of the patients had been vaccinated with BCG. a family history of active tuberculosis was shown in 29.4% of the cases. "Mycobacterium tuberculosis" was isolated from spinal fluid in on

BACKGROUND: The local anatomy of the lumbosacral region of spine is complicated, with special biomechanical characteristics. For surgical management of tuberculous spondylitis reported in the literature, the methods would be two-stage anterior and posterior approaches or one-stage anterior and posterior approach with patient's intraoperative position being changed. These types of surgery approaches would result in long operative duration and more intraoperative blood loss, and most important there is no coordination between anterior and posterior procedures.
METHODS: The purpose of this study

Although MRI has a spectrum of findings which help in the diagnosis of tuberculosis (TB) spine, a broad spectrum of spine pathologies resemble Pott's spine on MRI and are often missed due to inadequate clinical details. As a result, patients are often subject to unnecessary biopsy. A blinded radiologist may misdiagnose such mimic cases as TB. Our aim is to enable the reader to learn the main criteria that differentiate spine TB from other spine etiologies that mimic TB. A retrospective search was done and authors collected only MRI spine reports that showed a differential diagnosis or diagnosi

We report a case of tuberculous spondylitis (Pott's disease) with bilateral pleural effusion in a 25-year-old male patient. Left-pleural effusion was observed on admission. The initial diagnosis was tuberculous pleuritis. However, during anti-tuberculosis chemotherapy, back pain and right-pleural effusion appeared. by further examination, we diagnosed an active tuberculous spondylitis of the 11th and 12th thoracic vertebrae possibly by the dissemination of Mycobacterium tuberculosis through blood circulation or lymphatic circulation. In cases in which anti-tuberculosis chemotherapy is not so e
