A spatio-temporal image analysis for growth of indeterminate pulmonary nodules detected by CT scan.

The objective is to evaluate the performance of computational image classification for indeterminate pulmonary nodules (IPN) chronologically detected by CT scan. Total 483 patients with 670 abnormal pulmonary nodules, who were taken chest thin-section CT (TSCT) images at least twice and resected as suspicious nodules in our hospital, were enrolled in this study. Nodular regions from the initial and the latest TSCT images were cut manually for each case, and approached by Python development environment, using the open-source cv2 library, to measure the nodular change rate (NCR). These NCRs were

Management of Adult Atlantoaxial Rotatory Fixation: Case Series with Literature Review.

BACKGROUND: Atlantoaxial rotatory fixation (AARF) is extremely rare in adults, and there is no consensus on the ideal treatment of adult AARF because of its rarity. We presented a case series of three adult AARFs and reviewed the literature on adult AARFs. We suggest treatment guidelines for the injury based on the literature review. METHODS: We compiled a series of three adult AARFs seen in our hospital. We also utilized the NCBI library to retrieve literature on adult AARF from 2000 to 2021. We included articles on adult AARF, which described the number of days from injury to diagnosis, Fie

Prognosis and surgical outcomes of the total thymectomy versus thymomectomy in non-myasthenic patients with early-stage thymoma: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

Whether thymectomy (TM) or thymomectomy (TMM) is better for non-myasthenic patients with early-stage thymoma. We conducted a meta-analysis to compare the clinical outcomes and prognoses of non-myasthenic patients with early-stage thymoma treated using thymectomy versus thymomectomy. PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library and CNKI databases were systematically searched for relevant studies on the surgical treatment (TM and TMM) of non-myasthenic patients with early-stage thymoma published before March 2022. The Newcastle-Ottawa scale was used to evaluate the quality of the studies, and the data were

Postmortem Evidence of Brain Inflammatory Markers and Injury in Septic Patients: A Systematic Review.

OBJECTIVES: Sepsis is a life-threatening organ dysfunction caused by a host's unregulated immune response to eliminate the infection. After hospitalization, sepsis survivors often suffer from long-term impairments in memory, attention, verbal fluency, and executive functioning. To understand the effects of sepsis and the exacerbated peripheral inflammatory response in the brain, we asked the question: What are the findings and inflammatory markers in the brains of deceased sepsis patients? To answer this question, we conducted this systematic review by the recommendations of Preferred Reportin

Olanzapine-Related Somnambulism: A Systematic Review of Literature and a Case Report of Anorexia Nervosa.

BACKGROUND: Somnambulism, or sleepwalking (SW), is one of the most common forms of arousal parasomnias. It is characterized by different complex motor behaviors leading to unwanted movements in bed or walking during sleep. It can be the consequence of psychological stress, abnormal breathing during sleep, high fever, or drug adverse effects. There is evidence of an association between antipsychotic treatment, including olanzapine, and SW. METHODS: We present the case of a patient experiencing treatment-resistant anorexia nervosa whose somnambulism re-exacerbated after the addition of a low do
