Improving Long-Term Adherence to Endocrine Therapy Among Breast Cancer Survivors: Development of a Multiscale Modeling and Intervention System.

BACKGROUND: Breast cancer is a significant public health burden. Despite its critical role in preventing the recurrence of breast cancer, rates of long-term adherence to endocrine therapy (ET) remain low among certain breast cancer survivors. Using embedded sensors in smartphones and wearables, ecological momentary assessment data and health behavior theory may facilitate a richer understanding of the real-world context of medication-taking behaviors, which can aid in the development of personalized interventions. OBJECTIVE: The objective of this paper is to describe the development of a mult

Resting-state abnormalities in functional connectivity of the default mode network in autism spectrum disorder: a meta-analysis.

Increasing evidence has shown that the resting state brain connectivity of default mode network (DMN) which are important for social cognition are disrupted in autism spectrum disorder (ASD). However, previous neuroimaging studies did not present consistent results. Therefore, we performed a meta-analysis of resting-state functional connectivity (rsFC) studies of DMN in the individuals with ASD and healthy controls (HCs) to provide a new perspective for investigating the pathophysiology of ASD. We carried out a search using the terms: ("ASD" OR "Autism") AND ("resting state" OR "rest") AND ("D

Intrinsic brain activity associated with eye gaze during mother-child interaction.

Mother-child interactions impact child social development and psychological health. This study focused on eye-gaze interactions, especially eye contact as synchronized gaze, which is an important non-verbal communication tool in human interactions. We performed brain-image analysis of mothers and children using resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging and quantitatively evaluated the quality of mother-child interactions using the Interaction Rating Scale to investigate how it is related to the frequency of mother-child eye contact. As a result, we found a positive correlation betwee

Resilience paths: maternal experiences in coping with syphilis exposure or congenital infection and the role of support networks.

BACKGROUND: Congenital syphilis is a significant public health problem and can lead to several unfavorable perinatal outcomes and severe sequelae in children. In Brazil, the number of cases of congenital and gestational syphilis continues to increase, highlighting the need for timely diagnosis, treatment, and prevention. A lack of adequate follow-up during prenatal care may result in unwanted outcomes for the neonate, such as prolonged hospitalization and impacts on neurodevelopment. Although many studies have focused on the clinical aspects of congenital syphilis, there is a gap in understand

Social Media Use Among Young Adults With Connective Tissue Disorders: Cross-Sectional Pilot Study.

BACKGROUND: Young people with genetic conditions often face challenges coping with their health condition. It can be difficult for them to meet someone with a similar condition, which is important for reinforcement of chronic illness management recommendations. Social media is used by 97% of young people in the United States and may provide those with these disorders a space for emotional expression and support. However, there is a scarcity of literature related to the use of social media among adolescents with genetic conditions as an indicator of their perception regarding their own conditio
