A clinical study was carried out involving 24 patients between 18 and 64 years of age with disto-lateral onychomycosis of finger and/or toenail in whom intermittent therapy with itraconazole was orally administered for 4 months. A clinical trial of once-daily administration of a 125-mg tablet of terbinafine, an oral antimycotic agent, was performed on patients with tinea unguium to evaluate its efficacy, safety, possible side-effects and its incorporation into nails and hair. Telangiectasia of the hands were observed in 76% of patients with scleroderma (n = 53) as compared with 12% of patients with other rheumatic disorders (n = 100) and in 13% of healthy subjects (n = 30). BACKGROUND: In 1964, based on eight cases, R. Sweet described a form of "acute febrile neutrophilic dermatosis" that was quickly renamed Sweet's syndrome. Over time, other entities (pyoderma gangrenosum, erythema elevatum diutinum, etc.) came to be included in the same nosological group, giving rise to the concept of neutrophilic dermatosis. In addition to types of passage between these different diseases, neutrophilic dermatoses may have a variety of atypical presentations such as that described as "neutrophilic dermatosis of the hands", of which we present a case herein.
