[Movement image training and brain-computer interface in cognitive rehabilitation].

The paper provides an overview of studies on the use of movement image training and brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) for cognitive rehabilitation in patients with neurological diseases. Based on the analysis of studies published from 2004 to 2025, the effectiveness of these methods in recovering cognitive functions in patients with stroke (13 studies), Parkinson's disease (4 studies), and multiple sclerosis (2 studies) was evaluated. Most studies demonstrated a positive effect of movement image training on the cognitive functions of patients with neurological diseases and moderate cognitive de

Short-term effects of a virtual, community-based, task-oriented group exercise programme incorporating a healthcare-community partnership compared to a waitlist control on increasing everyday function among adults with mobility limitations: protocol for the TIME™ at Home randomised controlled trial.

INTRODUCTION: While group, task-oriented, community-based exercise programs (CBEPs) delivered in-person can increase exercise and social participation in people with mobility limitations, challenges with transportation, cost and human resources, threaten sustainability. A virtual delivery model may help overcome challenges with accessing and delivering in-person CBEPs. The study objective is to estimate the short-term effect of an 8-week, virtual, group, task-oriented CBEP called TIME™ (Together in Movement and Exercise) at Home compared with a waitlist control on improving everyday function i

Time-restricted eating versus calorie restriction for improving biomarkers of age in adults with overweight or obesity and incipient fatty liver disease: protocol for the ENSATI randomized controlled parallel groups trial.

INTRODUCTION: The increasing global lifespan has shifted the primary objective of geroscience from merely extending lifespan to maximizing health span. Biological aging is a gradual, time-dependent process marked by progressive cellular deterioration that culminates in increased vulnerability, frailty, morbidity, and mortality. Understanding the mechanisms that accelerate or decelerate this deterioration is crucial for developing effective interventions. Diet is recognized as the leading modifiable behavioral risk factor influencing the global burden of noncommunicable diseases and mortality.

Study protocol for a multi-arm, parallel group randomised controlled trial evaluating the isolated and combined effects of behavioural promotion and hardware provision on handwashing with soap in peri-urban Lusaka, Zambia.

INTRODUCTION: Diarrhoea and lower respiratory infections remain leading causes of under-five mortality in sub-Saharan Africa. Handwashing with soap (HWWS) is a cost-effective intervention, yet adherence remains low. Effective interventions must address multiple behavioural influences, as knowledge alone is insufficient without supportive environments. Multi-component handwashing interventions target diverse behavioural determinants, yet few studies disentangle the isolated and combined effects of different components. This multi-arm randomised-controlled trial in Lusaka, Zambia, aims to assess

Effects of postoperative antifungal therapy on the recurrence of Aspergillus infection after pulmonary aspergilloma resection: a prospective, randomized, controlled, single-center, 24-month, open-label, parallel group trial.

BACKGROUND: Surgical resection is considered the most effective therapeutic method for pulmonary aspergilloma (PA), while the necessity of postoperative antifungal therapy remains controversial. Previous studies have several shortcomings such as retrospective design and inadequate follow-up durations. In this study, we aim to address these evidence gaps by evaluating the effects of postoperative antifungal therapy on both Aspergillus infection recurrence and drug-related side effects. METHODS: We conducted a prospective, randomized, controlled, single-center clinical trial. Eligible patients

Treating nightmares in post-traumatic stress disorder with the α-adrenergic agents clonidine and doxazosin: protocol for a phase II randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled parallel-group study (ClonDoTrial).

INTRODUCTION: Intrusive nightmares are a hallmark symptom of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), contributing significantly to psychiatric comorbidities, impaired physical health and diminished social functioning. Currently, no pharmacological treatments are specifically approved for managing PTSD-related nightmares. However, emerging evidence suggests that adrenoceptor-targeting agents may offer therapeutic potential. Notably, clonidine and doxazosin have demonstrated efficacy in reducing PTSD-associated nightmares, as indicated by findings from open-label studies and small randomised cont

Group bright light therapy compared to treatment as usual for delayed sleep-wake phase disorder among patients in psychiatric care (the SIP trials): a protocol for a pragmatic, randomised controlled trial.

INTRODUCTION: Circadian rhythm sleep-wake disturbances appear to be prevalent in psychiatric populations and may maintain and exacerbate psychiatric symptoms. Bright light therapy (BLT) is, in addition to exogenous melatonin, the treatment of choice for circadian rhythm disorders like delayed sleep-wake phase disorder (DSWPD) and has yielded promising results in patients with comorbid psychiatric illness. However, such patients are rarely offered this treatment in outpatient clinics. The aim of this randomised controlled trial is to investigate whether group BLT for psychiatric outpatients is

Effect of combined treatment with transcranial direct current stimulation and repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation compared to monotherapy for the treatment of chronic insomnia: a randomised, double-blind, parallel-group, controlled trial.

BACKGROUND: Chronic insomnia increases the risk of various health problems and mental illness. Existing research suggests promise for both transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) and repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) in treating chronic insomnia individually. However, the combined effects of tDCS and rTMS on this condition remain unclear. This study aimed to verify the efficacy and safety of tDCS combined with rTMS for the treatment of adult patients with chronic insomnia. METHODS: This was a randomised double-blind parallel-group controlled study. Overall, 157 partic

Clinical effectiveness and safety of time-lapse imaging systems for embryo incubation and selection in in-vitro fertilisation treatment (TILT): a multicentre, three-parallel-group, double-blind, randomised controlled trial.

BACKGROUND: Time-lapse imaging systems for embryo incubation and selection might improve outcomes of in-vitro fertilisation (IVF) and intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) treatment due to undisturbed embryo culture conditions, improved embryo selection, or both. However, the benefit remains uncertain. We aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of time-lapse imaging systems providing undisturbed culture and embryo selection, and time-lapse imaging systems providing only undisturbed culture, and compared each with standard care without time-lapse imaging. METHODS: We conducted a multicentre, thr

Study protocol for a single-blind, parallel-group, randomised, controlled non-inferiority trial of 4-day intensive versus standard cognitive behavioural therapy for adults with obsessive-compulsive disorder.

INTRODUCTION: Individual cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) with exposure and response prevention is an effective treatment for obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). However, individual CBT is costly and time-consuming, requiring weekly therapy sessions for 3-4 months. A 4-day intensive version of CBT for OCD delivered in group format has been recently developed in Norway (Bergen 4-day treatment, B4DT). B4DT has shown promising results in several uncontrolled and one small, randomised trial, but its non-inferiority to the gold standard treatment has not been established. METHODS AND ANALYSIS:
