Designing a Multi-Epitope Vaccine Candidate Against Rhodococcus equi Based on the Bioinformatics Technique.

Rhodococcus equi (R. equi) primarily induces fatal pulmonary and extrapulmonary pyogenic granulomatous infections in foals, imposing substantial economic burdens on the equine industry. The emergence and spread of multidrug-resistant (MDR) R. equi have led to a therapeutic impasse in clinical settings. Although vaccination is a proven strategy against MDR pathogens, no commercial vaccine is currently available for R. equi. In this study, we employed a bioinformatics approach to systematically identify and prioritize antigenic epitopes derived from R. equi for multi-epitope vaccine design. Usin

Subgroup Differences in Parenting Stress and Life Satisfaction Among Parents of Children with Disabilities Receiving Adapted Physical Activity Services.

BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: Parenting stress and life satisfaction are important indicators of family well-being and parent mental health in families of children with disabilities. However, limited empirical attention has been given to how these outcomes differ among parents whose children receive adapted physical activity (APA) services within South Korea's Developmental Rehabilitation Service system. This cross-sectional study examined subgroup differences in parenting stress and life satisfaction according to sociodemographic, disability-related, and service-utilization characteristics among par

Essential work, unequal places: Neighborhood characteristics of the essential workforce in the United States during the COVID-19 pandemic.

INTRODUCTION: At the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, more than 55 million U.S. workers continued providing "essential" services crucial to public health, safety, and economic stability, even as large segments of the workforce sheltered at home. Despite the central role these workers played in safeguarding the economy and the greater American public, little is known about the neighborhood environments in which essential workers lived and how well these communities were equipped to support the health and well-being of essential workers during the pandemic. Therefore, the primary objective of thi…

Data Resource Profile: The Age-It Family Demography Survey (Age-It FDS).

INTRODUCTION: Italy has recently witnessed profound transformations in family dynamics, including delayed union formation, rising cohabitation, increasing relationship instability, and postponed parenthood. These shifts have occurred alongside persistently lowest-low fertility rates and a growing use of medically assisted reproduction (MAR). Existing Italian datasets do not simultaneously capture these new family dynamics, nor do they address other emerging themes such as online dating patterns, MAR experiences and trajectories, and the forward-looking narratives through which individuals inte

Benmelstobart Plus Anlotinib Is Unlikely to Be Cost-Effective for Advanced Renal Cell Carcinoma: An Integrated Disease Burden and Cost-Effectiveness Analysis.

Kidney cancer (KC) is an important public-health challenge in China. Although benmelstobart plus anlotinib (BEN + AL) improves survival compared with sunitinib (SUN) for advanced renal cell carcinoma, its economic value in the Chinese healthcare system remains uncertain. Epidemiological trends in KC incidence and disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) in China from 1990 to 2023 were assessed using Global Burden of Disease 2023 data, including joinpoint regression, decomposition analysis, age- and sex-specific patterns. A partitioned survival model was developed to compare BEN + AL with SUN, in

Population structure of G. pallidipes tsetse flies in Northwestern Kenya - Towards effective vector control.

BACKGROUND: Tsetse flies are vectors of trypanosome parasites responsible for Human and Animal African Trypanosomiasis (HAT and AAT), diseases that greatly affect health and economic growth across sub-Saharan Africa. Vector control, one of the possible strategies to tackle these diseases, is most effective on genetically isolated tsetse populations. While the population genetic structure of Glossina pallidipes tsetse flies has been well studied in southern Kenya, little is known about populations in northwestern Kenya. This study investigated the presence, genetic diversity, and population str

Microbiome alterations and host-pathogen interactions in paratuberculosis: A one health perspective.

Paratuberculosis is a chronic ruminal-enteric infection caused by Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis (MAP). It has significant economic, trade, and public health implications. In addition to evading host immunity, MAP modulates the gut microbiome, resulting in dysbiosis that exacerbates disease progression. A conceptual framework is proposed in which Johne's disease (JD) can serve as the paradigm of chronic infection, based on dysbiosis in microbial imbalance, immune escape, and pathogen survival in a self-sustaining loop, as in human tuberculosis and Crohn's disease. This review eval

Fertility in the Shadow of Cancer: Experiences of Reproductive Loss Among Women with Gynecological Cancers in Ghana.

BACKGROUND: Gynecological cancers remain a threat to women's health in Ghana, where the burden is shaped by late diagnosis, limited specialized care, and treatment-related infertility. Surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy can damage the ovaries and uterus, causing premature ovarian failure, early menopause, and loss of reproductive potential. In a pronatalist context where motherhood supports identity, marriage stability, and social standing, infertility carries a psychosocial burden. Yet, the lived experiences of women with gynecological cancer-related infertility remain poorly understood.
