Effects of fluoride and lead on enamel composition during the maturation stage of amelogenesis in rat mandibular third molars.

Dental enamel formation depends on tightly regulated mineral deposition and organic matrix removal during the maturation stage. Fluoride (F) adversely affects the maturation stage of amelogenesis, causing hypomineralized enamel defects. However, hypomineralized enamel defects have increased worldwide in recent years, making it urgent to understand how co-exposure to other environmental contaminants affects fluorosis and maturation-stage amelogenesis at fluoride levels sufficient to induce defects during early-life exposure conditions in experimental models. This study aimed to determine whethe

Doping Engineering Inspired Calcium Fluoride Nanozymes With Multifunctional Oxidative Storm for Enhanced Radio-Catalytic Therapy.

Radiotherapy, particularly radio-catalytic therapy, demonstrates immense potential in eliciting anti-tumor effects. However, its efficacy is substantially constrained by the low energy conversion efficiency of x-rays, limited reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation pathways, and the hypoxia-induced radio-resistance within the tumor microenvironment. Herein, we developed a spherical Cu/Lu/Tb co-doped CaF2 nanozyme coated with hyaluronic acid (CLTC@HA), which simultaneously exhibits highly efficient energy conversion and multifunctional catalytic activities, enabling a synergistically enhanced

Short-chain fatty acids alleviated fluoride-induced neuroinflammation via the gut-brain axis in rats.

Neuroinflammation is a hallmark of central nervous system injury caused by fluorosis; however, the regulatory relationship between intestinal microbial and fluoride-induced neuroinflammation remains unclear. Here, we aimed to evaluate the alleviating effect of short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) on fluoride exposure-induced neuroinflammation in rats. In this study, it is demonstrated that the composition of colonic microbiota was disrupted in fluoride-exposed rats at both phylum and genus levels, and fluoride exposure decreased the number of positive cells per crypt, inhibited mucin secretion, and

Boron-Fluoride Dual-atom Synergistic Regulated Interface Coating Enables Stable Zn-Metal Anodes.

Aqueous zinc-based batteries provide promising opportunities for next-generation rechargeable batteries. Nevertheless, Zn anode encounters severe challenges, such as Zn dendrite formation, surface corrosion, and hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). Here, we report a strategy to spontaneously construct a boron-fluoride dual-atom regulated SEI (ZnBOF), which involves the formation of a B-compound coating through an etching process followed by an in situ F substitution during the initial electrochemical cycling. The ZnBOF/Zn anode benefits preferential deposition of Zn2+ along the (002) plane witho
