Carcinosarcomas are rare, malignant, biphasic tumors. We report the case of a 62-year-old man with gastric carcinosarcoma, along with its clinical, macroscopic and histopathological features. Macroscopically, a specimen of deformed stomach was obtained that measured 200 mm x 150 mm x 100 mm. Inflammation of the skin in the immediate neighborhood of a stoma (peristomal dermatitis) occurs--at least temporarily--in about two-thirds of all stoma patients. The often apparently uniform clinical presentation may conceal a variety of different pathological conditions, a knowledge of which is a must for the correct diagnosis and therapeutic strategy, which in turn is essential to prevent the development of a vicious circle of dermatitis and stomal insufficiency, which in the worst case may make a surgical intervention necessary.

BACKGROUND: To present a modified laparoscopic surgical technique that works to optimize the surgical view in laparoscopic total excision of choledochal cyst in pediatric patients.
METHODS: From June 2015 to June 2017, a total of 48 pediatric cases of choledochal cyst were admitted. Their age ranged from 15 month to 8 years (average 3.5 years). Duodenal atresia (DA) is a well-described congenital anomaly that usually responds well to surgical correction. Associated defects are common, and these confounding variables often influence outcome. The authors present a case of a newborn female with an unusual constellation of problems including DA with annular pancreas, trisomy 21, and coarctation of the aorta. She developed protracted complications postoperatively and was treated with an innovative surgical strategy.
