It has been recently suggested that primary Sjögren's syndrome (SS) patients present with a variety of personality structure disturbances and psychiatric symptoms. To evaluate this finding further, we assessed hostility structure and psychiatric symptoms in 33 Sjögren's syndrome patients and compared the results with those of 33 healthy women, and 41 women with solid malignant tumors. In a double-blind study the authors compared severity of psychopathology and personality organization in three groups of patients: those with organic (neurogenic) seizures alone (N = 11), those who exhibited both neurogenic and psychogenic ("hysterical") seizures (N = 13), and those with pure psychogenic ("hysterical") seizures (N = 13). 56 male violent offenders and 20 male controls from the psychiatric personnel were studied by means of the glucose tolerance test. The results revealed some abnormal findings among those violent offenders who had an antisocial personality. Changes in personality scores and self-perception of 92 couples through sex therapy are reported. The sample included 52 couples with female symptoms (orgasmic dysfunction and vaginismus) and 40 couples with male symptoms (erectile dysfunction and premature ejaculation), who all completed therapy. One-year follow-up showed significant changes indicating a general increase of emotional stability and a reduction of neurotic tendencies in both partners.

The results of molecular genetic testing may affect recommended treatment or therapeutic decisions and risk assessment, may help with identification of family members at risk. Here, we report a case of a young patient with a paradoxical combination of two inherited arrhythmic syndromes and demonstrate the role of genetic testing as one of the basis of personalized approach in diagnosis, treatment and prevention complications of inherited channelopathies complications. Integration of genetic testing results into clinical practice is a successful example of the concept of personalized medicine.

Using the DSM-IV criteria for personality disorders, prevalence rates for these disorders were evaluated among methadone maintenance patients, with a psychometric test--the Millon Clinical Multiaxial Inventory (MCMI-III). We found that 77% of patients met the study criteria for at least one personality disorder.
