A 78 year old male patient who had been treated by haemodialysis for 17 years for renal failure, secondary to tuberculosis, is reported. Following severe rectal bleeding, an ischaemic ulcer of the ascending colon was noticed, which required right hemicolectomy. On the surgical specimen, the ulcer showed massive vascular involvement with amyloidosis of the type found in haemodialysed patients, and constituted of beta 2 micro-globulin deposits. These amyloid deposits have certainly played an important part in the development of this ischaemic lesion.

A 71 year old woman with hiatal herniation was admitted to our hospital with anemia and melena. A barium enema revealed hiatal herniation of the transverse colon in conjunction with the stomach, which seemed to be strangulated by the esophageal hiatus. She underwent surgery, for which Hill's gastropexy method was employed and has had no signs of bleeding since. By presenting this case, we stress the importance of marking a careful differential diagnosis due to the variability in symptoms of digestive tract bleeding.

The authors report two cases of adenocarcinoma of the digestive system in children both of which were located in unusual sites. A child of 9 years old had an adenocarcinoma of the small bowel and a boy of 16 years who was known to have a long-standing hiatus hernia developed an adenocarcinoma of the oesophagus. In children these tumors have some characteristic features. They develop on a preexisting lesion. Evolution is rapid. From the pathological point of view, anaplasic and colloide patterns are frequent.

A 63-year-old woman admitted because of a right non-visualizing kidney. Right ureteral tumor was clinically diagnosed by routine examinations. Pathological finding after right nephroureterectomy and partial cystectomy revealed adenocarcinoma of the ureter. She also had a history of gastrectomy for gastric cancer 4 years before.
