BACKGROUND: MYH-associated polyposis is a recessively inherited syndrome of colorectal cancer predisposition attributed to biallelic germline mutations in the base excision repair gene MYH. Clinically it overlaps with attenuated familial adenomatous polyposis, sporadic oligopolyposis, serrated polyposis, familial colorectal cancer type X, and Lynch syndrome. BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Gastrostomy feeding in children is well established for nutritional support. Gastrostomy tubes may be permanent or temporary. After removal, spontaneous closure may occur, but persistence of the tract requires surgical repair. Laparotomy with gastric repair and fascial closure is the standard technique for treatment of a persistent gastrocutaneous fistula. OBJECTIVE: To explore the methods for repair of facial and cervical scars after burn.
METHODS: One hundred and two patients with facial and cervical scars as a result of burn injury were repaired by unilateral or bilateral deltopectoral flaps after expansion with pedicles. First, facial scars were excised and contractures were released to restore eye, mouth and nose to normal anatomical position. The facial scar flaps were overturned to join with the pedicles of deltopectoral flap for closing the wounds. The residual wounds were repaired by delayed flaps without pedicles 3 weeks later.

AIM: Persistent perineal sinus (PPS) following proctectomy for inflammatory bowel disease affects about 50% of patients. Up to 33% of cases of PPS remain unhealed at 12 months and the most refractory cases are unhealed at 24 months despite optimal conventional therapy. We report the case of a 20-year-old male who was operated for a large ruptured aneurysm of the right common carotid artery, revealing a Behcet's disease. The aneurysm was excised and the right common carotid artery was repaired with a polytetrafluoroethylene prosthesis.
