Depressive Emotion Detection and Behavior Analysis of Men Who Have Sex With Men via Social Media.

BACKGROUND: A large amount of evidence has indicated an association between depression and HIV risk among men who have sex with men (MSM), but traditional questionnaire-based methods are limited in timely monitoring depressive emotions with large sample sizes. With the development of social media and machine learning techniques, MSM depression can be well monitored in an online and easy-to-use manner. Thereby, we adopt a machine learning algorithm for MSM depressive emotion detection and behavior analysis with online social networking data. METHODS: A large-scale MSM data set including 664,33

Reporting of Intimate Partner Violence among Men Who Have Sex with Men in an Online Survey.

OBJECTIVE: A growing body of literature suggests that intimate partner violence (IPV) occurs within same-sex relationships and that members of the Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender (LGBT) community face a number of unique challenges in accessing IPV-related services. This paper examines the use of an online survey, marketed through a popular social networking site, to collect data on the experience and perpetration of IPV among men who have sex with men (MSM) in the United States. METHODS: Internet-using MSM were recruited through selective placement of banner advertisements on MySpace.com. Pa

Mapping the Research Landscape and Global Trends: A Bibliometric Analysis of Event-related Potential in Alzheimer's Disease.

INTRODUCTION: There is an urgent need for objective biomarkers to facilitate early diagnosis and dynamic monitoring of Alzheimer's Disease (AD). Event-Related Potential (ERP), as a neuroelectrophysiological technique with high temporal resolution, shows great promise in addressing this demand. However, the macro-level developmental trajectory, research status, and frontier directions within this field remain to be systematically elucidated. This study employs bibliometric methods to delineate the development trends, knowledge structures, and research frontiers of ERP applications in AD, thereb

Social networks as pathways of political mobility in Portuguese governments.

Political mobility in executive appointments is often explained through party affiliation and career trajectories, yet relational embeddedness across institutional arenas may also characterise those who reach ministerial office. We examine, retrospectively and in an exploratory manner, whether the social networks formed by co-participation in Portuguese governmental and parliamentary venues are associated with ministerial appointments. Using web-scraped data on the composition of the Constitutional Governments and the Portuguese Parliament between 2015 and 2024, complemented with the Registers

"I want your kidney!" Information seeking, sharing, and disclosure when soliciting a kidney donor online.

OBJECTIVE: This study investigates how people use the Internet to search for an altruistic kidney donor. Although many opinion pieces on this phenomenon have been written, this is the first qualitative study focused on online kidney solicitation from the potential recipient's point of view. METHODS: Eight participants - four who successfully found donors and four who were still searching - were interviewed, and inductive content analysis was performed. RESULTS: Three themes appear in our data: choosing to go online to find a donor, information hubs, and information flow. These themes emphasi

Personal information of adolescents on the Internet: A quantitative content analysis of MySpace.

Many youth have recently embraced online social networking sites such as MySpace (myspace.com) to meet their social and relational needs. While manifold benefits stem from participating in such web-based environments, the popular media has been quick to demonize MySpace even though an exponentially small proportion of its users have been victimized due to irresponsible or naive usage of the technology it affords. Major concerns revolve around the possibility of sexual predators and pedophiles finding and then assaulting adolescents who carelessly or unwittingly reveal identifiable information

[Spatial Correlation Network Characteristics and Influencing Factors of Carbon Emission in Yangtze River Delta Urban Agglomeration].

Promoting the integrated development of China's urban agglomerations and realizing regional coordinated carbon reduction is an important starting point for the "dual carbon" goal. Taking 26 cities in the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration as research objects, this paper discusses the change trend and driving factors of carbon emission spatial correlation network from the dual perspectives of "attribute data" and "relational data" through slope trend analysis, the generalized Divisia index decomposition method (GDIM), gravity model, social network analysis (SNA), QAP method, and exponentia…

Application of the LDA model to identify topics in telemedicine conversations on the X social network.

The evolution experienced by global society, in the post-COVID 19 era, is marked by the quite obligatory use of digital media in many sectors, as is the case for the health sector. Quite frequently, both patients and health professionals use social media to express their telemedicine concerns or interests. The present research focuses on these social media comments as they represent a very interesting data source for researchers. In the present analysis, we focus on unstructured tweet texts written by Internet users and apply both machine learning and the Latent Dirichlet Allocation algorithm

Performance of a score to characterise adequate contact among the social network of persons with TB.

BACKGROUND: Transmission of Mycobacterium tuberculosis requires adequate contact between an infectious case and a susceptible host. The aim of this analysis was to validate a recently developed contact score that assessed settings of exposure and relationships between the case and contact. METHODS: In a cross-sectional study from Kampala, Uganda, we estimated the prevalence of tuberculous infection (TBI) in social contacts of adult TB cases according to the setting and relationship domains of the contact score. We calculated the prevalence ratio (PR) for the association between contact scores

New mothers' experiences of the urban environment with their preterm infants involve complex social, emotional and psychological processes.

AIM: Studies have explored how mothers and premature babies make the transition from a neonatal unit (NNU) to home, but little is known about how mothers cope with urban life with a vulnerable baby. This controlled trial investigated how first-time mothers with singleton preterm babies handled that experience in the first few months after discharge from a NNU, compared to the first-time mothers of healthy, singleton term-born infants. METHODS: This parent-led, qualitative study was carried out in London, UK, from 2013 to 2015 and used diaries and walking interviews with researchers. Thematic

Using network analysis to explore if professional opinions on Japanese encephalitis risk factors in Nepal reflect a socio-ecological system perspective.

Japanese encephalitis (JE) is the leading cause of viral encephalitis in Asia and a significant public health problem in Nepal. Its epidemiology is influenced by factors affecting its amplifying hosts (pigs), vectors (mosquitoes), and dead-end hosts (including people). While most control efforts target reduced susceptibility to infection either by vaccination of people or pigs or by reduced exposure to mosquitoes; the economic reality of Nepal makes it challenging to implement standard JE control measures. An ecohealth approach has been nominated as a way to assist in finding and prioritizing
