OBJECTIVE: To explore the mediating mechanism of intrusive rumination between social support and non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) behavior in patients with depression.
METHODS: Patients with depression admitted to our hospital from September 2023 to February 2024 were selected as the study subjects. A questionnaire survey was conducted using the General Information Questionnaire, Intrusive Rumination Scale, Perceived Social Support Scale, and Ottawa Self-Injury Inventory (OSI). Pearson correlation analysis and structural equation modeling (SEM) were used to test the mediating effect.

Research on urban community effects on health has considered a range of collective social processes as potential links between economic disadvantage and health. We extend this focus to deaths of despair (DoD; drug overdose mortality and suicide) in rural counties by examining the association between a novel indicator of economic cynicism (perceptions that local communities have been 'left behind' economically) and DoD. We also consider a range of other aspects of social climate potentially relevant to health, including social network ties, collective efficacy and social and physical disorder.

AIMS: Japan and Korea are the world's most aged and most rapidly aging nations. They both have low fertility rates, thereby intensifying the importance of social structures to aid a large, dependent population of older adults. Common strategies involve improving their social participation, which enhances their physical and mental health, so they are supporting society rather than being supported. BACKGROUND: Young people's social standing among friends and peers has been linked to general levels of drinking and has been shown to influence others' drinking. A social skills group was conducted for 8 boys aged 8 to 12 years on a weekly basis for 14 sessions.
