The ability of two biodegradable surfactants, polyoxyethylene (20) sorbitan monooleate (Tween 80) and sodium dihexyl sulfosuccinate (Aerosol MA), to recover a representative dense non-aqueous-phase liquid (DNAPL), trichloroethene (TCE), from heterogeneous porous media was evaluated through a combination of batch and aquifer cell experiments. A series of [2-[(omega-aminoalkoxy)phenyl]ethyl]benzene derivatives were synthesized and evaluated for their ability to inhibit collagen-induced platelet aggregation in vitro and to protect experimental thrombosis in mice. The results showed that the compounds were in vitro inhibitors of collagen-induced platelet aggregation. Most of them were also effective in the mouse antithrombotic assay. A simple and specific radioimmunoassay (RIA) was developed for the determination of oxazepam and other 1,4-benzodiazepines in human blood serum and urine (e.g., diazepam, desmethyldiazepam, chlorazepate).
