[Atypical dermatomycoses in children as seen in personal observations].

15 cases of cutaneous fungal infection in children with nontypical clinical findings have been presented. The fungal infections simulated other skin diseases particularly atopic dermatitis in 6 cases, diaper dermatitis in 4 cases and in single cases psoriasis, impetigo, purpura, eczema and exudative multiforme erythema. Mycotic examinations have confirmed the fungal character of lesions. The specific treatment resulted in the complete cure of the skin lesions.

Overview of equine papular and nodular dermatoses.

Papules and nodules are common lesions on horses and have a variety of underlying causes. This article addresses inflammatory and congenital nodules primarily, including urticaria, erythema multiforme, those nodules caused by infectious agents, epidermoid and dermoid cysts, and the uniquely equine skin tumor, the sarcoid. The eosinophilic nodules and other tumors are covered elsewhere in this issue. Diagnostic and therapeutic approaches to each of the diseases are emphasized.

Episodic angioedema with eosinophilia: precursor lesions and relevance of histology. A case report.

A 59-year-old patient suffered from persistent angioedema-like swellings and blood eosinophilia. The disease was preceded by an erythema multiforme-like exanthema and urticarial papules. Persistent eosinophilia with exclusion of its known causes and skin biopsy helped to establish the diagnosis of the benign variant of hypereosinophilic syndrome known as 'episodic angioedema with eosinophilia'. Corticosteroid therapy was successful. The therapeutic alternatives are discussed.

Stevens-Johnson syndrome during an immunosuppressive therapy with cyclophosphamide and prednisone.

Corticosteroids are often recommended for the treatment of severe Stevens-Johnson syndrome. We report about a 12 years old boy, who developed this syndrome during an immunosuppressive therapy with prednisone and cyclophosphamide for a frequent relapsing, steroid-dependent nephrotic syndrome. Most of the commonly mentioned etiologic factors for erythema exudativum multiforme could be excluded. The usefulness of corticosteroids for the therapy seems to be doubtful.

Targetoid lesions in a patient with systemic lupus erythematosus.

Rowell Syndrome is a rare presentation of lupus erythematosus manifesting as an eruption of erythema multiforme-like papules and plaques with immunological findings of positive rheumatoid factor, speckled antinuclear antibodies, and/or anti-Ro/La antibodies. This case highlights the unusual and highly debated presentation of Rowell Syndrome in a 66-year-old woman with newly-appearing erythematous, targetoid plaques in the setting of previously diagnosed systemic lupus erythematosus. Skin biopsy revealed histological features of full-thickness epidermal necrosis with focal sub-epidermal separat…

Erythema gyratum repens with pulmonary tuberculosis.

A 63-year-old man presented with erythema gyratum repens of 7 months' duration. A cavitating mass at the right lung apex was resected and proved to be tuberculous. Following the resection, the skin lesions cleared within a few days. Erythema gyratum repens has not previously been described in association with non-malignant visceral pathology. The pathogenesis remains obscure but cannot be related specifically to a response to tumour cells or their products in view of the association reported here. The condition bears no resemblance to any known tuberculide.
