Introduction of Egg White and Yolk to Infant Diets and Early Childhood Atopic Dermatitis.

This study investigated whether the introduction of allergenic foods in infancy is associated with atopic dermatitis (AD) in early childhood. Information regarding parental allergic histories, the introduction of six possible allergenic foods (fruits, egg white, egg yolk, fish, shellfish, and peanuts), and physician-diagnosed AD was obtained using age-specific questionnaires (0-2 years). Immunoglobulin E, specific to 20 food allergens, was also quantified at 12 months of age. Logistic regression analyses were used to determine the association between individual food introduction and the outcom

The clinical and laboratory findings of infants with atopic dermatitis during diagnosis and follow-up.

Background. Atopic dermatitis is a chronic disease that affects patient and parents life worsely. What time will the patient go into remission is not known. Therefore, clinical and laboratory indicators that can indicate remission are needed. Materials and Methods. The study was conducted in İzmir Health Sciences University, Tepecik Training and Research Hospital. The clinical and laboratory data of patients between January 2014 and December 2019 were scanned from the patient records and the hospital data system. Results. 102 patients with a median age of 8 (min 2- max 24) months were included

Real-Life Effectiveness and Tolerance of Upadacitinib for Severe Atopic Dermatitis in Adolescents and Adults.

INTRODUCTION: The efficacy and safety of upadacitinib in atopic dermatitis have been defined in clinical trials, but long-term real-life experience, essential for clinical decision-making, is still limited. We aimed to assess the effectiveness and tolerance of upadacitinib in a real-life cohort of adults and adolescents with severe atopic dermatitis in whom previous systemic therapies largely failed. METHODS: Retrospective cohort study collecting data from adults and adolescents treated with upadacitinib 15 or 30 mg per day between July 2021 to August 2022. The outcomes for effectiveness were

Use of tofacitinib in baricitinib-refractory atopic dermatitis: An example of JAK inhibitor switching.

Atopic dermatitis (AD) is predominantly mediated by a T-helper 2 immune system response. While JAK inhibitors have gained treatment approval for AD, data regarding interclass efficacy and therapeutic rationale is lacking. We report a patient with recalcitrant AD who failed baricitinib but demonstrated an excellent response to the pan-JAK inhibitor tofacitinib.

The immunological and structural epidermal barrier dysfunction and skin microbiome in atopic dermatitis-an update.

Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a common, chronic and relapsing inflammatory skin disease with various clinical presentations and combinations of symptoms. The pathophysiology of AD is complex and multifactorial. There are several factors involved in the etiopathogenesis of AD including structural and immunological epidermal barrier defect, imbalance of the skin microbiome, genetic background and environmental factors. Alterations in structural proteins, lipids, proteases, and their inhibitors, lead to the impairment of the stratum corneum which is associated with the increased skin penetration and

[Clinical observation on the efficacy and safety of dupilumab in the treatment of moderate to severe atopic dermatitis].

To investigate the clinical efficacy and safety of dupilumab in the treatment of moderate to severe atopic dermatitis (AD) in China. A small sample self-controlled study before and after treatment was conducted to retrospective analysis patients with moderate to severe AD treated with dupilumab in the department of dermatology of the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University from July 2020 to March 2022. Dupilumab 600 mg was injected subcutaneously at week 0, and then 300 mg was injected subcutaneously every 2 weeks. The condition was evaluated by SCORAD(severity scoring of ato

Efficacy and safety of abrocitinib in patients with moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis and comorbid allergies.

BACKGROUND: Abrocitinib efficacy by comorbidity status in patients with moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis (AD) has not been previously assessed. This post hoc analysis evaluated the efficacy and safety of abrocitinib in patients with AD and allergic comorbidities. METHODS: Data were pooled from patients who received abrocitinib 200 mg, 100 mg, or placebo in phase 2b (NCT02780167) and phase 3 (NCT03349060, NCT03575871) monotherapy trials. Patients with and without allergic comorbidities (allergic asthma, rhinitis, conjunctivitis, or food allergy) were evaluated for Investigator's Global Ass

Effect of Dupilumab on Sexual Desire in Adult Patients with Moderate to Severe Atopic Dermatitis.

Background: Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic inflammatory condition causing itching skin, with a significant psychosocial impact on patients and relatives. AD affects 15 to 30% of children and 2 to 10% of adults. AD significantly affects patients' quality of life (QoL) given the chronicity and symptoms of the disease. Most AD patients have reported that the disease affects daily life, resulting in limited social contact and a strong impact on sexual health (SH), especially in moderate-severe cases. Materials and methods: We performed a prospective study from 1 May 2020 to 1 May 2022; the ai

Case Report: The Application of Dupilumab in Atopic Dermatitis Children Complicated With Nephrotic Syndrome.

Nephrotic syndrome (NS) tends to be more common in patients with history of allergies. Atopic dermatitis (AD) is one of the most common allergic diseases in children. Dupilumab, a dual IL-4 and IL-13 inhibitor, has been widely used to treat AD patients. However, the efficacy and safety of Dupilumab in NS is unclear. We reported two AD patients with NS comorbidities treated with Dupilumab. The outcomes showed the good control of NS and less systemic steroids and/or immunosuppressive agents use during the Dupilumab treatment period, accompanied by significant relief of AD symptoms. We suggest pr

Effect of Sopoongsan on Skin Inflammation and Hyperlocomotion in Socially Isolated Mice with Atopic Dermatitis.

Psychological stress is a major exacerbating factor of atopic dermatitis (AD), a chronic inflammatory skin disease. Sopoongsan (SPS), a traditional herbal formula, has been indicated for the treatment of various skin disorders, including AD. This study investigated the effects of SPS on a 2,4-dinitrochlorobenzene- (DNCB-) induced AD mice model exposed to social isolation (SI) stress. The severity of the AD symptoms and behavioral abnormalities was evaluated. SPS reduced the clinical skin score as evaluated with the SCORing Atopic Dermatitis (SCORAD) index and suppressed the cutaneous infiltrat

Atopic Dermatitis With Coexisting Food Allergy in Early Life Is Associated With Childhood Asthma.

PURPOSE: Atopic dermatitis (AD) and food allergy (FA) are associated with respiratory comorbidities, in the concept of 'atopic march.' However, children with AD and a coexisting FA have various disease courses, and the mechanism of atopic march remains unclear. In this study, we investigated whether the phenotype of AD with coexisting FA in early life affected asthma or allergic rhinitis (AR) in school children. METHODS: A total of 1,579 children from the Panel Study on Korean Children (PSKC) cohort were followed-up in 2013. The participants diagnosed with AD in this cohort were classified by

Efficacy and Safety of Dupilumab in Chinese Patients With Atopic Dermatitis: A Real-World Study.

BACKGROUND: Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a common skin disease, but treatment of this disease has been challenging. Dupilumab is a new biological agent for AD that has been proven to be safe and effective in clinical trials. Although dupilumab was approved for listing in China in June 2020, real-world data about the application of dupilumab in China are lacking. This study aimed to collect and analyze real-world data on dupilumab among Chinese AD patients. METHODS: Demographic and clinical data for 116 AD patients receiving dupilumab treatment were reviewed. The Eczema Area and Severity Index (E
