The control of schistosomiasis depends mostly upon the sensitivity of stool examinations. We used both the Kato-Katz technique and the compression of samples between the slide and a polypropylene cover glass, according to Ferreira. Thirteen different laboratory colonies of Leptotrombidim chiggers [L. chiangraiensis Tanskul & Linthicum, L. deliense Walch and L. imphalum (Vercammen-Grandjean &Langston)] were evaluated for their ability to transmit Orientia tsutsugamushi (Hyashi) to mice. Of 4,372 transmission attempts using individual chiggers from all 13 colonies, 75% (n = 3,275) successfully infected mice. Transmission rates for the individual chigger colonies ranged from 7 to 80%. This paper describes the preparation of primidone-loaded poly-epsilon-caprolactone nanocapsules according to the interfacial deposition technique. The colloidal suspension obtained showed a monomodal size distribution with a mean diameter ranging from 308 to 352 nm. By adjusting the process parameters, the encapsulation efficiency was about 74% with good reproducibility. Primidone release from the nanocapsules was found to be slower as compared to the oily control solution despite an important burst-effect. The release profile was not influenced by the pH of the release medium.

In a retrospective analysis, 2,006 X-ray examinations of the skeleton obtained after trauma in 1,386 children were examined; 354 fractures were diagnosed. X-ray films of the skull were requested in 596 (29.7%); fractures were diagnosed in only 13 patients (2.2%). The radiological result changed the medical management in none of these cases. On the other hand, X-ray after trauma in the extremities is indispensable, except for the knee region. Examinations of the lower arm showed a fracture in 54.9%, X-ray of the shoulder 47.7%.

Oculokinetic perimetry (OKP) has been proposed as a method to screen for glaucomatous visual field defects but its use is limited by a high false positive rate. The standard hand-held screening OKP chart uses 26 points.
