A 7 year-old boy had had partial complex seizures from the age 6 years. Two days after commencing a treatment by VPA in a daily dose of 55 mg/kg body weight, disturbances of consciousness became obvious. He was admitted to hospital two days later. The E.E.G. on admission showed bilateral delta activity. The plasma levels of VPA was 140 mg/l. Diazepam, 7 mg, was given intravenously. Four minutes later, the clinical state and the E.E.G. returned to normal. This observation supports the hypothesis that VPA may have a paradoxical epileptogenic effect in some types of epilepsy.

Results of experiments conducted in dogs are reported, in which the first few centimetres of the ureter were replaced by a prosthesis in silicone elastomer, the upper extremity being intubated by a trans-renal approach into the lower calyx and the upper extremity into the iliolumbar ureter. A study on the hypotensive action of combined injections of papaverine and octadine (guanethidine) was carried out in acute experiments on 90 anaesthetized cats. It was shown that with combined injections of octadine (in doses exceeding by 22% ED100) and of papaverine (in doses inferior by 22% to ED100) the hypotensive action was potentiated. A change of the said proportions led to a diminished hypotensive effect. A comparative study of the antiepileptic action of Clonazepam, phenythoin-natrium and phenobarbital has been performed in acute experiments in rabbits. The effort of the three drugs, administered intravenously, was studied on a) the epileptic activity induced by electrical stimulation of the amygdala, b) the interictal and c) ictal epileptic activity of an amygdaloid chemical focus (penicillin in gel). Clonazepam has a definite higher capacity, than the other drugs examined to prevent or to reduce the phenomenon of generalization of epilepsy. However, its effect has a shorter duration.

Behaviour of Mg and Ca content in the blood serum of 28 cattle with grass tetany and hypocalcaemia was evaluated at short time intervals after infusion of 500 ml of a solution A (containing 12 g Mg-adipat and 5 g Ca-gluconate/100 ml aqua dest.) and a solution B (containing 12 g Mg-adipate and 12 g Ca-gluconate/100 ml) respectively.
