BACKGROUND: Adenomatoid tumor is a rare benign neoplasm of mesothelial origin, most commonly arising in the epididymis, vas deferens, and tunica vaginalis; primary occurrence in the testis is extremely rare. Cryptorchidism is recognized as a risk factor for testicular germ cell tumors, but its association with adenomatoid tumors remains hypothetical, as there is limited mechanistic evidence directly linking cryptorchidism to mesothelial tumorigenesis in the testis. Moreover, multiple primary malignancies may be related to impaired immune surveillance or genetic susceptibility, though these mec

With advances in diagnostic techniques and treatment modalities, the number of patients identified with colorectal carcinoma who develop multiple primary malignancies during long-term followup has been increasing. We report a patient who developed three histologically distinct malignancies. Primary colon carcinoma treated radically followed by an 8-year disease-free period. The patient then presented with progressive dysphagia and was investigated and diagnosed to have a synchronous multicentric squamous cell carcinoma of the oesophagus and basal cell carcinoma of the skin. There was a simulta

The presence of two or more malignant tumors of different histological entities in an individual is referred to as multiple primary malignant neoplasms (MPMN). These are becoming more frequently encountered and reported in clinical practice nowadays. Majority of MPMN are diagnosed in elderly, where senility might alter the management plan. Despite the increased reporting of MPMN in the literature, only a few elaborated on the management of such cases. Also, the combination of synchronous primary appendicular and breast cancers-to our knowledge-has never been reported. Here we present the first

Single primary and multiple primary melanomas (MPMs) of the head and neck region may be confused at first glance because of the common clinical and dermoscopic patterns. An inaccurate diagnosis may lead the clinician to a wrong diagnostic and therapeutic pathway because MPMs occurring in familial or sporadic settings are often involved in individual cancer susceptibility. We investigated the clinical, demographic, histological, and survival differences between MPMs and single melanoma occurring in the head and neck region. A retrospective analysis of medical and histologic records from 217 mel

Neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF-1) is commonly associated with benign or malignant tumors in both the central and peripheral nervous systems. However, rare cases of NF-1-associated multiple rectal neuroendocrine tumors have been reported. This report describes a case of a 39 year old female with NF-1 and intermittent hematochezia as a primary symptom. Physical examination showed multiple subcutaneous nodules and café au lait spots with obvious scoliosis of the back. Imaging examinations and colonoscopy found malformation of the left external iliac vein and multiple gray-yellow nodules with varyin

Medullary carcinoma of the thyroid is a unique neoplasm characterized by consistent production of a hormonal marker, calcitonin, calcification of both primary and metastatic foci, and association with other endocrine neoplasms. It accounts for 3.5%--10% of all thyroid malignancies. First described by Hazard et al. [1] in 1959, this neoplasm has become the focus of increasing clinical and experimental investigation. It occurs both sporadically and in families. When familial, it is seen as a component of the multiple endocrine neoplasia type II (MEN-II) syndromes. Interest in medullary carcinoma

BACKGROUND: Primary renal synovial sarcoma (PRSS) is an extremely rare tumor with a poor prognosis. Its imaging and immunohistochemical characteristics may overlap with other renal tumors, which renders its early diagnosis in a dilemma. The diagnosis of primary renal synovial sarcoma requires histopathology and the confirmation of SYT-SSX gene fusion using molecular techniques. Cases of primary renal synovial sarcoma have been previously reported in the literature. However, to our knowledge, primary renal allograft synovial sarcoma was never described.
CASE SUMMARY: A 43-year-old male patient

Nonspecific dermatologic problems occasionally associated with malignant disease include pruritus, reactive erythemas and skin infections. Frequently associated with internal neoplasms are acanthosis nigricans, dermatomyositis, rapid development of multiple seborrheic keratoses, hypertrichosis lanuginosa and other syndromes. Skin metastases may be the first signs of internal cancer. The most common visceral primaries are the lung and colon in men and the breast, colon and ovary in women. Recognizing these lesions can lead to early diagnosis and improved prognosis.

The clinical presentation, cytologic findings, radiographic findings, and postmortem assessment of a cat with primary pulmonary adenocarcinoma with multiple digital metastasis are described. An unusual shifting, waxing and waning pattern of lameness, suspected to be an early manifestation of digital metastasis before any gross lesions were visible, was documented. Initial cytologic finding of a lung nodule was equivocal for diagnosis of neoplasia despite being strongly suspicious. Palliative management was short-lived, with rapid progression culminating in widespread metastasis to multiple dig

Biliary malignancies include those arising from the intrahepatic and extrahepatic bile ducts as well as the gallbladder and hepatopancreatic ampulla of Vater. The majority of intrahepatic and extrahepatic malignancies are cholangiocarcinomas (CCAs). They arise owing to a complex interplay between the patient-specific genetic background and multiple risk factors and may occur in the liver (intrahepatic CCA), hilum (perihilar CCA), or extrahepatic bile ducts (distal CCA). Biliary-type adenocarcinoma constitutes the most common histologic type of ampullary and gallbladder malignancies. Its progno

Two patients with multiple intrathorcic granular cell myoblastomas are described. In one case multiple tumours were present in the major airways and oesophagus. The patient presented with recurrent pulmonary infections and stridor due to airway obstruction. In the other case dysphagia caused by multiple oesophageal granular cell myoblastomas was the major symptom. Granular cell myoblastoma is a rare tumour of neurogenic origin with a characteristic histological appearance. The pattern of multiple tracheobranchial and oesophageal tumours is uncommon and forms the basis of this report.

Primary neuroendocrine tumors of the thymus (NETTs) are rare and biologically very aggressive neoplasms, usually located in the anterior mediastinal space. They are more frequently observed in males, in their fourth/fifth decades of life. In 50% of cases, NETTs are associated with endocrinopaties [Cushing's syndrome, acromegaly or Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia-1 (MEN-1) syndrome]. NETTs very often present with invasion of the surrounding mediastinal anatomical structures. Surgery, even in advanced stages, is the mainstay of treatment: a compete resection through a median sternotomy or a combine

UNLABELLED: Central nervous system (CNS) lymphoma is a rare and aggressive primary neoplasm that comprises a small proportion of brain tumours and non-Hodgkin lymphomas. We present a case report of a 64-year-old woman with CNS lymphoma, who exhibited cognitive changes, weight loss and neurological symptoms. Imaging scans revealed multiple lesions in the brain and thrombosis in the venous sinuses. A diagnosis of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma of the CNS was confirmed through histological examination. The patient underwent treatment with corticosteroids and chemotherapy, but experienced clinical

INTRODUCTION: Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) quite frequently presents as multiple tumors in individual patients. Neoplasm's risk factors for local recurrence have a critical impact on therapeutic management.
OBJECTIVE: To detect risk factors for multiple BCCs (mBCC) in individual patients and to describe clinical and dermatoscopic features of low- and high-risk tumors.
MATERIALS & METHODS: Our study included 225 patients with 304 surgically excised primary BCCs. All patients' medical history and demographics were recorded. Clinical and dermatoscopic images of BCCs were evaluated for predefined

A 6.2-year-old 28-kg (61.7 lb) intact female Golden Retriever was referred due to persistent and multiple cytopenias noted on a routine CBC prior to a mature ovariohysterectomy procedure. The patient's physical examination was unremarkable, and staging of the thorax and abdomen identified no abnormalities. At the referral hospital, moderate hypercalcemia, borderline anemia, and neutropenia were noted. Assessment of bone marrow samples by cytology, histology, immunohistochemistry, and flow cytometry indicated a T-cell neoplasm. The patient was treated with a multi-agent chemotherapy protocol fo

RATIONALE: Gastric cancer is one of the most common malignant tumors in China. Gastric signet ring cell carcinoma (SRCC) belongs to highly malignant undifferentiated gastric cancer, originating from the epithelial cells of the gastric mucosa. Research has shown that the incidence of gastric cancer is gradually decreasing, but the incidence of gastric SRCC is gradually increasing. We report an extremely rare case of dual primary SRCC involving the gastric cardia and antrum. This case highlights the diagnostic challenges of synchronous SRCC, where a high level of suspicion, comprehensive endosco

Collision tumors are relatively rare and refer to the coexistence of distinct tumors in the same anatomical region, where they invade each other. Sellar collision tumors are especially uncommon. Recent studies suggest that most cases involve the coexistence of pituitary adenomas and craniopharyngiomas, whereas collision tumors comprising pituitary adenomas and chordomas are exceedingly rare. To the best of our knowledge, this case represents the fourth reported instance of an intrasellar chordoma coexisting with a pituitary adenoma. This case report presents a 60-year-old male patient with a c

A 77-year-old Japanese man presented to our hospital with subcutaneous tumors of the right upper arm and axilla. A biopsy revealed a cutaneous adnexal tumor, showing apocrine differentiation, and axillary lymph node metastasis. After chemoradiotherapy to shrink the tumors, both lesions were resected. A resected specimen of the arm tumor showed a variegated histology: (1) a classic sebaceoma with an organoid pattern and sebocytes; (2) a sebaceous tumor with cellular atypia; (3) a papillotubular tumor showing a biphasic pattern of pale eosinophilic cells with apocrine differentiation and basaloi
