Analyses of the Differences in Nutritional Quality and Volatile Aroma Compounds in Potato-Based Reconstituted Rice Produced from Different Potato Varieties.

Potato-based reconstituted rice represents an innovative staple food solution that addresses nutritional and economic challenges. Using fresh potatoes instead of potato flour eliminates nutrient loss and reduces energy costs associated with traditional processing methods. This study examined reconstituted rice produced from the yellow-fleshed 'Dianshu 1428' and purple-fleshed 'Diancaishu 101' potato varieties, comparing their nutritional and aromatic profiles with commercial rice-based alternatives. The results demonstrated significant nutritional advantages: potato-based reconstituted rice co

Preparation and Formation Mechanism of Carbon Nanotubes via Coal Pyrolysis Using Alkaline Potassium Catalysts.

In this study, two potassium-based alkaline compounds, KOH and K2CO3, were utilized as catalysts for the pyrolysis of bituminous coal to directly synthesize carbon nanotubes (CNTs). During the conventional reaction process, CNTs were observed as unusual products, with respective contents reaching 9.43 and 8.98 wt.% in the pyrolysis products. The results indicate that at temperatures exceeding 600 °C, KOH undergoes complete conversion into K2CO3. The melting point of K2CO3 (890 °C) serves as the critical temperature for the formation of CNTs. Under the reducing atmosphere provided by -CH2- and

From Floral By-Product to Bioactive Resource: Phytochemical Profiling and Antioxidant Potential of Crocus sativus Stamens.

The production of saffron (Crocus sativus L.) generates large quantities of floral by-products, particularly stamens, which are often discarded despite their potential as sources of bioactive compounds. This study aimed to provide, for the first time, a comprehensive and comparative characterization of C. sativus stamen extracts and fractions using a multianalytical approach (UHPLC-MS/MS, GC-MS, ICP-OES, and spectrophotometry), in order to reveal their nutritional, phytochemical, and antioxidant potential. Elemental analyses revealed high levels of essential macro- and micronutrients such as p

Bioremediation of degraded pit mud by indigenous microbes for Baijiu production.

Microbes in pit mud play key roles in fermentation cellars for Chinese strong-flavor Baijiu (SFB) production. Pit mud, however, is frequently degraded during production, compromising the quality of the end product. In this study, a bioremediation method was used to restore degraded pit mud (DPM) using indigenous microbes derived from SFB production. Metabolomics and metagenomics were used to determine the dynamics of prokaryotes during DPM restoration and their link to SFB production. The composition of flavor compounds in SFB changed (P = 0.0001) before and after restoration of DPM. Consisten

Chapter 3: Macroelements: Ca, Na, K, P, Cl.

The foods in the diet contain a wide range of organic and inorganic compounds. Considering these from an elemental perspective, 5 so-called macroelements, calcium, potassium, sodium, phosphorus and chlorine, are contained in comparatively large quantities in foods compared to all other elements. This chapter attempts to review the importance of these dietary macroelements on oral health, and in particular their role in tooth loss, dental caries, erosive tooth wear and periodontal disease. Calcium and phosphate make up the bulk of the mineralized human tissues. Adequate intake of both is theref

Epitaxial Stabilization of Tetragonal Cesium Tin Iodide.

A full range of optoelectronic devices has been demonstrated incorporating hybrid organic-inorganic halide perovskites including high-performance photovoltaics, light emitting diodes, and lasers. Tin-based inorganic halide perovskites, such as CsSnX3 (X = Cl, Br, I), have been studied as promising candidates that avoid toxic lead halide compositions. One of the main obstacles for improving the properties of all-inorganic perovskites and transitioning their use to high-end electronic applications is obtaining crystalline thin films with minimal crystal defects, despite their reputation for defe

Reactivity of Elemental Tin and Zinc toward Organophosphonic Acid Dialkyl Esters: A New One-Pot Recipe for the Synthesis of Coordination Assemblies Derived from O-Alkylorganophosphonate Ligands.

A new recipe for the synthesis of diorganotin bis(O-alkylorganophosphonate)s, R12Sn{O(P)(O)(OR1)R}2 [R = R1 = methyl (1); R1 = ethyl and R = methyl (2), allyl (3), 2-thienyl (4), benzyl (5)], has been developed from the direct reaction of elemental tin (powder) with organophosphonic acid dialkyl esters, RP(O)(OR1)2, in the presence of a catalytic amount of potassium iodide under ambient conditions (130 °C, 18-20 h). The key steps in the proposed catalytic cycle involve the monodealkylation of phosphonate diester and in situ generation of a R1SnI or R12SnI2 intermediate via the oxidative additi

Extremely bulky amido first row transition metal(II) halide complexes: potential precursors to low coordinate metal-metal bonded systems.

Reactions of the extremely bulky potassium amide complexes, [KL'(η(6)-toluene)] or [KL"] (L'/L" = N(Ar*)(SiR3), Ar* = C6H2{C(H)Ph2}2Me-2,6,4; R = Me (L') or Ph (L")), with a series of first row transition metal(II) halides have yielded 10 rare examples of monodentate amido first row transition metal(II) halide complexes, all of which were crystallographically characterized. They encompass the dimeric, square-planar chromium complexes, [{CrL'(THF)(μ-Cl)}2] and [{CrL"(μ-Cl)}2], the latter of which displays intramolecular η(2)-Ph···Cr interactions; the dimeric tetrahedral complexes, [{ML'(THF)(μ-

Regulation of macronutrient transport.

In addition to light, water and CO(2), plants require a number of mineral nutrients, in particular the macronutrients nitrogen, sulphur, phosphorus, magnesium, calcium and potassium. After uptake from the soil by the root system they are either immediately assimilated into organic compounds or distributed within the plant for usage in different tissues. A good understanding of how the transport of macronutrients into and between plant cells is adjusted to different environmental conditions is essential to achieve an increase of nutrient usage efficiency and nutritional value in crops. Here, we

Relative amounts of soluble and insoluble forms of phosphorus and other elements in intraradical hyphae and arbuscules of arbuscular mycorrhizas.

Transport of phosphorus (P) into host plants and its release to root cells is an important function of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF). However, relatively little is known about the forms and water solubilities of P compounds in specific locations in the intraradical fungal structures. We determined concentrations and solubility of P components in these structures in white clover (Trifolium repens L.). Plants were grown in the field (colonised by indigenous AMF) or in the glasshouse (inoculated with Glomus intraradices). Mycorrhizas were cryo-fixed in liquid nitrogen immediately (control) o
