Social media activism and women's health: Endometriosis awareness and support.

OBJECTIVE: While endometriosis is estimated to affect 1 in 10 women globally, awareness of the disease as well as research and funding to fight the disease remains lacking as compared with other chronic diseases. METHODS: We used a mixed-method approach of combining computational analyses (topic modeling and word association) and human coding (qualitative

"I make myself get busy": Resilience and social connection among low-income older adults living in subsidized housing.

BACKGROUND: Social isolation and loneliness are pervasive issues among older adults in the United States, carrying significant health risks. Low-income older adults are particularly vulnerable to these challenges compared with their higher-income counterparts due to their limited access to resources and social networks. Many low-income older adults live in subsidized housing, which has the potential to offer unique support tailored to their needs. The intersection of aging and the unique social circumstances faced by low-income older adults significantly influences how they navigate crises. M

Psychological Disorder Identifying Method Based on Emotion Perception over Social Networks.

The Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) has stated that over 1.1 billion people suffered from mental disorders globally in 2016, and the burden of mental disorders has continued to grow with impacts on social development. Despite the implementation of strategies for promotion and prevention in mental health WHO's Comprehensive Mental Health Action Plan 2013⁻2020, the difficulty of diagnosis of mental disorders makes the objective "To provide comprehensive, integrated, and responsive mental health and social care services in community-based settings" hard to carry out. What Does It Take to Make an Incel: The Role of Paranoid Thinking, Depression, Anxiety, and Attachment Patterns.

BACKGROUND: The term "incel" (involuntary celibate) refers to the members of an online subculture, mainly composed of heterosexual men. These individuals find it difficult or impossible to have a romantic and/or sexual partner, and they express extreme anger and resentment toward women, as they hold them accountable for their "inceldom." In recent years, online and offline acts of violence have been perpetrated by incels, raising concern at social and political levels. This study aims to understand the personal, psychological, and psychopathological variables that may contribute to developing

Perceptions and Attitudes Regarding Postpartum Depression on Reddit: Inductive Content Analysis.

BACKGROUND: Over the past decade, postpartum depression (PPD) diagnoses have significantly risen across all ethnic and racial groups. However, PPD remains underdiagnosed due in part to stigmatization and misunderstanding by the public. This can result in a reluctance among women to openly discuss their symptoms with clinicians. However, social media offers supportive communities and unique platforms for individuals to openly share the experiences and opinions that they may be less likely to disclose in person. Despite the availability of new Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved medical

Using communities of practice in adult social care to build research capacity and foster best practice: a qualitative evaluation.

BACKGROUND: Communities of Practice (CoPs) are recognised as shared learning spaces that situate learning, deepen knowledge, and facilitate the exchange of expertise within a specific domain. While CoPs often emerge organically, they have been widely adopted across health, social care, and education. However, their civic potential, particularly in enabling people with lived experience of social care to collaborate with practitioners to shape practice and drive meaningful change, remains underexplored. The Kent Research Partnership, South-East England (2021-5), aimed to build research capacity i

Is suicidality contagious? The social transmission of suicidal thoughts and behaviors: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

BACKGROUND: Suicide is a major public health problem and exposure to suicidal thoughts and behaviors (STBs) within the social network might increase individual risk. METHODS: We searched MEDLINE, PsycInfo, EMBASE, Scopus, CINAHL, and PubMed (inception-May 6, 2024, updated on November 5, 2025, and on February 22, 2026). We included observational studies reporting suicide-related outcomes for individuals exposed to STBs of friends

Association between oral condition and subjective psychological well-being among older adults attending a university hospital dental clinic: A cross-sectional study.

Positive psychological well-being has a favorable impact on survival rates in both healthy and unhealthy populations. Oral health is also associated with psychological well-being, is multidimensional in nature, and includes physical, psychological, emotional, and social domains that are integral to overall health and well-being. This study aimed to identify the associations between individual and environmental characteristics, oral condition and nutritional status in relation to subjective well-being among older adults using the Wilson and Cleary conceptual model. The participants were older a
