PURPOSE: Single-suture nonsyndromic craniosynostosis is diagnosed using clinical assessment and computed tomography (CT). With increasing awareness of the associated risks of radiation exposure, the use of CT is particularly concerning in patients with craniosynostosis since they are exposed at a younger age and more frequently than the average child. A case of osseous Kaposi sarcoma in a 35-year-old man is described. The patient (HIV-positive for 8 years) suffered from cutaneous Kaposi sarcoma and presented with right-sided chest pain. He underwent a chest CT scan that revealed three osteolytic lesions involving rib and vertebra with large soft tissue masses, without cutaneous lesions at these sites. CT-guided core needle biopsy led to a histological diagnosis of Kaposi sarcoma.

We report a case of solitary plasmacytoma of rib origin in a 46-year-old man. CT revealed a focal expanding mass in the right fifth rib. The mass showed ridging, cortical thickening, and fine erosion on the inner aspect of the cortex and had partly penetrated the bone. We report the first case of neurofibroma causing obstruction by external compression of the upper renal pelvis. A 33-year-old woman reported a 1-year history of dull lumbar pain on the right side. A right renal parapelvic cyst was suspected. The patient underwent retroperitoneoscopic exploration. The right renal parapelvic lesion was identified as a soft tissue tumor. The tumor was removed with a retroperitoneoscopic procedure. Histopathological findings revealed neurofibroma.

Over the last decade MR imaging has gained widespread acceptance as the modality of choice for initial evaluation of a soft tissue mass. We report the case of a 21-year ice hockey player with an accessory soleus muscle located medially in the ankle region. The swelling made it increasingly difficult for him to fit his skating boots and caused some pain during play. He was successfully treated by excising the muscle. Previously, the diagnosis was verified surgically in most reported cases. Like most recent authors, we believe that the diagnosis can be confirmed by CT-scan and/or MRI-scan. Surgical excision of the muscle should be reserved for symptomatic cases.
