Extensive penile glans and corpus spongiosum necrosis due to catheter traction following laparoscopic radical cystoprostatectomy: a rare case report and literature review.

BACKGROUND: Penile glans and corpus spongiosum necrosis is an extremely rare urologic condition associated with substantial morbidity. CASE PRESENTATION: We report a rare case presenting extensive penile glans and corpus spongiosum necrosis following catheter traction in a 71-year-old male patient who had a laparoscopic radical cystoprostatectomy for muscle-invasive bladder cancer. The patient has no preexisting diabetes mellitus or chronic renal failure. The case was successfully managed with penile preservation. During the procedure, it was observed that the necrosis was not limited to the …

Orthodontic Traction of a Deeply Impacted Mandibular Second Molar With Severe Root Dilaceration in Close Proximity to the Inferior Alveolar Canal: A Case Report.

BACKGROUND: Impaction of mandibular second molars is uncommon, particularly when associated with severe root dilaceration and intimate proximity to the inferior alveolar canal. Such cases present considerable diagnostic and therapeutic challenges because surgical extraction may result in neurosensory injury. This case report describes the successful interdisciplinary management of a deeply impacted mandibular second molar using controlled orthodontic traction supported by skeletal anchorage. CASE PRESENTATION: An 18-year-old female presented seeking orthodontic treatment because of dissatisfa…

Comparison between Fovea-Sparing and Complete Internal Limiting Membrane Peeling for the Treatment of Myopic Traction Maculopathy: A Systemic Review and Meta-Analysis.

INTRODUCTION: Myopic traction maculopathy (MTM) is a major cause of impaired vision in eyes with high myopia, which is characterized by retinal thickening, retinoschisis, lamellar macular hole (MH), and foveal retinal detachment. Pars plana vitrectomy (PPV) with fovea-sparing internal limiting membrane peeling (ILMP) has been developed to theoretically prevent postoperative MH formation and improve best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) gain for MTM compared with the complete ILMP. However, in previous studies, the anatomic and visual outcomes still remain uncertain and controversial. OBJECTIVES…

Tractional retinal detachment ('crunch' phenomenon) from intravitreal anti-vascular endothelial growth factor injection in central retinal vein occlusion.

Tractional retinal detachment is an uncommon complication of intravitreal anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) injection wherein the drug triggers tractional retinal detachment as a result of fibrovascular membrane contraction. We present a case of a 42-year-old hypertensive woman diagnosed with chronic central retinal vein occlusion on both eyes. The right eye had total retinal detachment and neovascular glaucoma, while the left eye had retinal neovascularisation. Panretinal photocoagulation and intravitreal anti-VEGF injection was started on the left eye. However, she was lost to f…
