PURPOSE: Although alkylators are known to be effective against some myeloid leukemias, resistance is often mediated via O6-alkylguanine-DNA alkyltransferase (AGT). Temozolomide's inhibition of AGT may sensitize leukemia cells to the novel alkylator laromustine. BACKGROUND: The efficacy of thrombopoietin (TPO) mimetics in patients with idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) reaffirms that impaired platelet production is an important mechanism. New strategies to reduce platelet destruction, like rituximab, are also effective.
OBJECTIVES: To describe the efficacy and safety of rituximab and the TPO mimetics, romiplostim and eltrombopag, and how they relate to ITP pathogenesis.

BACKGROUND: Several chromene derivatives have a wide variety of biological and pharmacological activity. They had anticancer activity, antimicrobial activity, antituberculosis activity, anticonvulsant activity, antidiabetic activity, antichlolinesterase activity, and inhibitor of monoamine oxidase activity.
