Angiofibromas (AFs) are benign, potentially local aggressive, and rich vascular neoplasms that originate from posterior lateral wall of the nasopharynx in adolescent males. However, they could be encountered in sites other than nasopharynx. The maxillary sinus is the most common location of extranasopahryngeal AFs. The nasal septum is an extremely rare location, and only 15 cases had been reported in literature. In this present case, an unusual extranasal AF originating from the anterior part of the nasal septum is reported with its clinical, laboratory, and treatment options and theories prop

PURPOSE OF REVIEW: This article will examine recent publications on the endoscopic management of juvenile nasopharyngeal angiofibromas.
RECENT FINDINGS: The use of an endoscopic approach to resect small juvenile nasopharyngeal angiofibromas is supported by excellent results from a number of operative series published in recent years. Large juvenile nasopharyngeal angiofibromas continue to present a considerable surgical challenge, with most being resected by traditional open approaches. However, the results achieved after the endoscopic resection of large tumours have been reported for a smal

PURPOSE: To analyze 15 patients treated with radiation therapy for juvenile nasopharyngeal angiofibroma (JNA) between June 1975 and March 1996.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: All patients had a 2.5-year minimum follow-up. All patients had advanced disease (Chandler stage III or stage IV); two thirds of the patients had intracranial extension.
RESULTS: Local control after radiotherapy was obtained in 13 of 15 patients (85%). Two patients had local recurrences, and both were salvaged with surgery for an ultimate local control rate of 100%. Late complications included cataracts in 3 patients, delayed t

BACKGROUND: Juvenile nasopharyngeal angiofibroma (JNA) is a benign, rare, and highly vascular tumor. It is typically affecting young males. It arises from the pterygoid canal and could expand with destructive growth into the nasal cavity until skull base. The diagnosis of JNA is based on clinical and radiological examination. Digital subtraction angiography plays a crucial role in preoperative planning. The gold standard for the management of JNA is surgical removal. For advanced JNA, radiotherapy is known to be an effective treatment but it could induce long-term complications.

Objective:To investigate the clinical effect of plasma resection of juvenile nasopharyngeal angiofibroma(JNA) under nasal endoscope. Methods:The clinical data of 12 cases with JNA treated in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology and head and neck surgery of the 940th Hospital from 2015.01 to 2020.01 were analyzed retrospectively. All of them were young males. Imaging examination, digital subtraction angiography(DSA) and selective blood supply artery embolization were performed before operation, and then plasma was used to remove the tumor under nasal endoscope. The patients were followed up fo

BACKGROUND: Cellular angiofibroma is a rare benign mesenchymal tumor that mostly occurs in the genital area. Its occurrence outside this region, particularly in the pelvis, is extremely rare. To our knowledge, this study reports the first case of cellular angiofibroma occurring in the pelvic cavity, except for one case reported in the retroperitoneum.
CASE PRESENTATION: A 25-year-old female patient with chronic, intermittent, dull pain in the lower abdomen that lasted for several months was referred to our clinic. Imaging studies revealed a tumor in the pelvic cavity anterior to the bladder.

BACKGROUND: Tumors of the oral cavity must be differentiated into benign and malignant. Rare tumors must also be considered throughout the differential diagnosis when dealing with pathologic changes in the oral mucosa. Examples of rare benign tumors within the oral cavity are solitary fibrous tumors (SFTs). In recent years, individual case reports of SFTs in the oral cavity have been published showing a rising incidence of this rare entity.
CASE REPORT: The present case report describes the occurrence of a subtype of SFT in the right buccal mucosa, the so-called giant cell angiofibroma (GCA).

Angiofibromas, also known as angiomyofibroblastoma-like tumors or AMF-like tumors, refer to a collection of rare, benign yet highly cellular tumors of the vulva, scrotum, perineum, or inguinal region. In this paper, we present a 34-year-old Saudi man who presented with findings of a testicular tumor on physical examination and imaging and tested negative for all the markers associated with testicular tumors.

Tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) is a genetic syndrome due to mutations in either TSC1 or TSC2, leading to the development of hamartomatous tumours at multiple body sites, including facial skin (facial angiofibroma (FAF)), brain (cortical tubers) and kidney (angiomyolipoma (AML)). In this report, we describe an individual with minimal TSC clinical features, who had 'no mutation identified' (NMI) by prior genetic testing in a clinical laboratory. Our massively parallel sequencing (MPS) analysis of multiple samples from different body sites and tumours (including blood, saliva, normal skin, AML

BACKGROUND: The histological and electron-microscopic (EM) characteristics of juvenile nasopharyngeal angiofibroma (JNA) have been described but no study has compared them with one another or with clinical features. The objective is to compare ultrastructural characteristics of JNA with clinical parameters.
METHODS: This prospective study included histology of 21 samples of which only 13 underwent transmission-EM. Four clinical parameters (age, duration, epistaxis, recurrence), three radiological-staging, 13 histological and 15 EM characteristics were considered. A descriptive analysis for as

Juvenile nasopharyngeal angiofibroma (JNA) is a histopathologically benign and highly vascular neoplasm, which is mainly seen in young adolescent men. It is a rare tumor, accounting for 0.05% of all head and neck neoplasms. The etiology of JNA has always been a controversial topic. Some researchers believe that it is a genuine tumor. Others consider that it is the result of vascular malformation caused by the non-absorption of artery residues in the first branchial arch during development, and that hormone and genetic effects are also related to its etiology. In addition, the JNA was so called

The characteristics of extra-nasopharyngeal angiofibromas tend to be different from angiofibromas of the nasopharynx according to patient gender, patient age, prevalence, affected site, pathogenesis, and clinical and epidemiological features. We report a case of an extra-nasopharyngeal angiofibroma in a 28-year-old man referred to the ENT Clinic for right-sided epistaxis, airflow impairment and nasal swelling. The right nostril was completely occluded works by a reddish-yellow mass that bled easily. The computed tomography scan revealed an "inhomogeneous solid lesion in the nasal fossa". With

BACKGROUND: Nasopharyngeal angiofibromas are typically considered benign vascular neoplasms, with descriptions of high-grade sarcomatous change found only in lesions with prior radiotherapy.
METHODS AND RESULTS: We describe the first reported case of high-grade malignant change in a nasopharyngeal angiofibroma naive to radiation. A 45-year-old man presented with left-sided nasal congestion and fullness and was found to have a left-sided nasopharyngeal mass with intracranial extension on CT scan. A biopsy of the mass revealed nasopharyngeal angiofibroma. The patient opted for MRI surveillance,

BACKGROUND: Juvenile nasopharyngeal angiofibroma (JNA) has witnessed a four-fold increase in the incidence at our facility in the current decade as compared to the 1980s. With high global incidence of human pappilloma virus (HPV) related oropharyngeal cancer in India, we hypothesize its implication in JNA as it has not yet been reported.
METHODS: Clinico-Surgical variables of 6 patients of JNA were included for correlation and their tissue samples were subjected to western blotting (WB), polymerase chain reaction and immunoflorescence to demonstrate a definite association with HPV. In additio

Angiofibromas are histologically benign, but unencapsulated and highly vascular tumors with a potential of local destructive effect. Angiofibromas predominantly originate from the posterolateral wall of the nasopharynx. Extranasopharyngeal angiofibromas are extremely rare and mostly seen in maxillary sinus and ethmoid sinus. In this article, we report a 21-year-old male case who was admitted with headache and diagnosed with an angiofibroma originating from the sphenoid sinus.
