Leclercia adecarboxylata is a motile, Gram-negative bacillus in the Enterobacteriaceae family and is ubiquitous in nature. In our study, we report a case of catheter-associated bloodstream infection caused by multidrug-resistant L. adecarboxylata in a colon tumor patient. An antimicrobial resistance surveillance study was carried out in 60 medical centres across Japan. Resistance to piperacillin was 10.8% in clinical isolates of Escherichia coli, while 1.3% or fewer isolates were resistant to other beta-lactams.
