The neuroblastoma can generally be diagnosed from the histologic findings, but electron microscopic evidence is often required. A thorough analysis of proteins capable of interacting with presynaptic receptors of alpha-latrotoxin was carried out. The protein components of receptor complexes were isolated from rat brain membranes by affinity chromatography on immobilized alpha-latrotoxin and antibodies to the cytoplasmic moiety of the calcium-independent receptor of alpha-latrotoxin (CIRL) followed by analysis by mass spectrometry. Several proteins were identified, with structural proteins, intracellular signal proteins, and proteins involved in the endocytosis and transport of synaptic vesicles being among them.

In an attempt to correlate the passive electrical properties of the secretory tissue with its structure, I measured AC admittances for isolated rat submandibular glands, over the frequency range between 100 Hz and 500 MHz. The fate of India ink particles and polystyrene latex beads injected into the corneal stroma of rabbits was studied by the naked eye, light microscopy, and electron microscopy. All the injected ink particles or latex beads were unchanged in shape, size, and number for at least 6 months. India ink particles and latex beads were endocytosed by the corneal fibroblasts within 3-4 days after injection. Numerous ink particles were packed into vacuoles, 0.5-10 micron in diameter, which occupy a large volume of the cytoplasm of the cell body and processes of fibroblasts in and near the injected area.

Antidiuretic hormone (ADH) stimulation of toad bladder granular cells rapidly increases the osmotic water permeability (Pf) of their apical membranes by insertion of highly selective water channels. Hydrogen peroxide at concentrations below cytotoxic ones causes an increase in the cytoplasmic calcium concentration in human umbilical vein endothelial cells as a result of calcium release from intracellular stores. Two-pore calcium channel blocker trans-NED19 partially suppresses the increase in the level of calcium ions in the cells in response to the addition of hydrogen peroxide. The staining of endothelial cells with the fluorescent stereoisomer cis-NED19 and LysoTracker confirmed the localization of two-pore calcium channels in lysosomes and endolysosomal vesicles.
