Adult-onset Still's disease (AOSD) is a systemic autoinflammatory disease characterized by symptoms including spiking fever, arthralgia, myalgia, maculopapular rash, and pharyngitis. The lack of diagnostic biomarker, non-specific clinical presentation, and the rarity of AOSD often result in a significant delay in diagnosis and treatment. While the average time of initial presentation to diagnosis is four months, we present a case of AOSD diagnosis three years after initial onset of classical symptoms. Iatrogenic bladder injuries have been reported in the neonate during umbilical artery/vein catheterization, voiding cystourethrogram, urinary catheterizations, and overwhelming hypoxic conditions. PURPOSE: We analysed delay in diagnosis (DID) and disease severity in patients with vertebral tuberculosis (TB) in India.
METHODS: We interviewed 228 patients with vertebral TB and reviewed their diagnostic magnetic resonance images (MRIs). We examined patient characteristics at the time of presentation and associations between socioeconomic background, access to care, DID and radiographic disease severity at the time of diagnosis.

Intestinal volvulus is not an uncommon cause of obstruction in pregnancy. Diagnosis is often delayed due to poor knowledge of the condition and a hesitation to use abdominal X-rays in a pregnant patient. Here, two cases of caecal volvulus in pregnancy are reported. In three patients with abdominal pain, two men aged 63 and 18 years and a woman aged 46 years, the use of NSAIDs reduced the symptoms. They were in fact suffering from peritonitis due to gastrointestinal perforation, but the decision to operate was delayed because of the relatively mild presentation. The strong analgesic, antipyretic and anti-inflammatory properties of NSAIDs can reduce the symptoms, signs and laboratory findings of peritonitis.

Of 152 consecutive patients with carcinoma of the right colon, 61 (40 per cent) suffered delays in treatment of more than 12 weeks from the onset of symptoms, with a mean delay of 48 weeks. While an effective method of screening for uterine cervical cancer is available, utilization of that method has been less than satisfactory in the high-risk indigent population of Louisiana. From 1984 through 1987, 171 new cases of invasive squamous cell carcinoma and 149 new cases of squamous carcinoma in situ of the uterine cervix were examined and/or treated at the Charity Hospital of Louisiana in New Orleans. Seventy patients consecutively diagnosed as having coeliac disease were studied with regard to the clinical and laboratory features of related blood disorders and the delays that occurred in making the eventual correct diagnosis.
