An efficient loading technique has been developed for flammable, toxic, or explosive gases which can be condensed at liquid nitrogen temperature and ambient pressure in membrane diamond anvil cells (DACs). This cryogenic technique consists in a deposition of small quantities of the desired gas directly into the sample chamber. The deposition is performed using a capillary that reaches the space between the diamond anvils. AIM: To review the gastrointestinal mucosal histological features of biopsies from children with Shwachman-Diamond syndrome (SDS) examined at a single specialist centre.
METHODS: Search of a clinical database was performed to identify SDS cases and their gastrointestinal biopsies were reviewed for morphological parameters such as crypt:villous ratio, crypt hyperplasia and abnormal inflammatory infiltrates. Autoerythrocyte sensitization syndrome (ASS) (Gardner-Diamond syndrome) is characterized by painful ecchymotic lesions affecting mostly women with emotional stress. Although it is widely accepted as a non-inflammatory disease, ASS can be accompanied by some autoimmune diseases. In this case report, we present a case with ASS associated with cutaneous vasculitis. We also briefly discuss the possible inflammatory features of ASS.

Shwachman-Diamond syndrome is a rare congenital disorder of unknown etiology. Characteristic abnormalities of this disease include pancreatic insufficiency, skeletal anomalies, growth retardation, recurrent infections, and hematologic abnormalities.
