PURPOSE: Guidelines for the care of women undergoing pelvic radiation therapy (RT) recommend vaginal dilator therapy (VDT) to prevent radiation-induced vaginal stenosis (VS); however, no standard protocol exists. Segmental dilatation of the colon is a rare congenital entity that cause chronic constipation in children. A new case is presented and another 9 former cases described in the literature are reviewed. We think that this entity may be diagnosed before the operation, if it is kept in mind. So, the barium enema and rectal biopsy are of paramount importance. The resection of the dilated ++ segment is the treatment of choice.

Eight patients with signs and symptoms of obstructive jaundice were evaluated by gray-scale echography. In each, ultrasonic identification of a dilated pancreatic duct was helpful in confirming the diagnosis of an obstructing lesion at the level of the ampulla of Vater. In only 3 could the tumor mass itself be seen on ultrasound. With the recognition of pancreatic duct dilatation, it is no longer essential for a tumor in the region of the ampulla of Vater to be large or contour-deforming before it can be identified by ultrasound.

The aortic root is the junction between the heart and aorta, containing the aortic valve and the coronary artery ostia. Various pathologic conditions arise in this region requiring complex surgical correction. These include aneurysmal dilatation with and without aortic regurgitation, acute aortic dissection extending below the sinotubular junction, and infective endocarditis with valve and periannular destruction. Multiple strategies for correction of these complex surgical issues exist, with excellent early results and long-term survival.

There have been isolated reports in the literature of the natural history and less than complete knowledge of the epidemiology and pathophysiology of syringomyelia. This article describes a clinically acute-onset abnormal patient with localized dilatation of the central canal of the spinal cord who had no evidence of present or prior Chiari's malformation, trauma, infection, tumor, or other predisposing pathologic condition. It is suggested that this distinct condition be labeled "acute idiopathic syringomyelia".

OBJECTIVE: Megaureter (MU) is an uncommon condition in adults. The aim is to present a review of the current literature.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: A literature search was conducted to explore the current literature including case reports on MU in adults in the period 2003-2023. Each case was characterised in terms of the eight categories: sex, age, etiology, location, symptoms, diagnostic tool used, type of treatment and follow-up.
