Giant epidermal cyst of the arm: a rare presentation.

A giant epidermal cyst is a benign soft tissue mass commonly involving the trunk, hand and face. The authors report a rare presentation of a 69-year-old man who presented with a painful, slow-growing left arm mass for 30 years duration. Examination revealed a large, mobile, soft tissue mass of the lateral aspect of the left arm. MRI showed a large, cystic left arm soft tissue mass. The mass was excised and the diagnosis of a giant epidermal cyst was made based on imaging and histopathology after surgical resection. The mass measured 9.5 cm x 8 cm x 4 cm, which is the largest reported giant epi…

Penile epidermal cyst in a patient with augmentation penoplasty.

A 44-year-old male patient who had undergone augmentation penoplasty 20 years previously presented with a slowly growing penoscrotal mass. The penile mass was excised totally and the pathologic diagnosis was an epidermal cyst. Epidermal cysts are benign disorders that can occur in any part of the body. However, an epidermal cyst as a late complication of augmentation penoplasty is extremely rare. We report this case of a penile epidermal cyst that developed after augmentation penoplasty.

Pseudotumoral appearance of a ruptured epidermal cyst in the foot.

We present a case of keratin granuloma due to a ruptured epidermal cyst, occurring in the foot, in a 52-year-old woman. The patient presented with a history of a slow-growing lump in the web space of the foot that had been present for over a year. Imaging appearances suggested a soft tissue neoplasm. Clinical presentation, radiological features and histopathological findings are described, and the relevant literature is reviewed.

Epidermal cyst of the breast: detection in a screening programme.

Two cases of epidermal cyst of the breast, a rare benign condition, were detected during a 3-year period in a mammographic screening programme, from 57,954 screening examinations. It is not uncommon for epidermal cysts to be initially misdiagnosed. The mammographic, ultrasound and histological features are presented. It is recommended that these lesions be resected because they possibly have malignant potential.

Perineal Squamous Cell Carcinoma Arising in an Epidermal Cyst.

A 90-year-old Japanese woman who had been aware of a subcutaneous mass on the right perineal region for 5 years was referred to our hospital … od postoperative course and was transferred to a rehabilitation facility 28 days after the surgery. Epidermal cysts are a common benign tumor, and clinicians should keep in mind that these cysts can become malignant.

Skin malignancy initially misdiagnosed as a benign epidermal cyst.

Skin cancer, which often occurs as a result of skin exposure to ultraviolet light radiation, usually presents with characteristic abnormal f … ompletely ruled out. Herein, we report a case of skin malignancy initially misdiagnosed as a benign epidermal cyst based on external visual inspection and ultrasonography.

Large epidermal inclusion cyst presenting as a pelvic mass.

INTRODUCTION: Epidermal inclusion cysts are common discrete nodules often formed in areas of previous trauma or surgery. A literature review indicated that large epidermal inclusion cysts of the pelvis are extremely rare. Accordingly, we present a case of a woman with a large pelvic epidermal inclusion cyst of the vaginal cuff, along with imaging studies and a review of the literature. CASE PRESENTATION: A 49-year-old woman, 13 years after vaginal hysterectomy, was found to have a 7-cm soft tissue pelvic mass, discovered on a computed tomography (CT) scan performed for abdominal pain. The tra

Precoccygeal epidermal inclusion cyst: ultrasound and MR imaging features.

In this case report, we are presenting a 33 year-old pregnant woman who suffered from pelvic and coccygeal pain. Her medical examination and laboratory tests were found within normal limits. In order to explain her pain, initially a pelvic ultrasound was performed which revealed a huge hypoechoic cystic mass in the precoccygeal-presacral region. She then underwent a pelvic magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) examination in order to better delineate the characteristics and extension of this huge mass. On these images the mass was hypointense on T1 weighted images and extremely hyperintense on T2 w

Malignant change in an epidermal cyst over gluteal region.

A 72-year-old male presented with a large ulceroproliferative lesion over left gluteal region. After histopathological confirmation of squamous cell carcinoma, the lesion was excised with wide margins. Further histopathological study of the excised specimen revealed the growth arising from an epidermal cyst. Malignant change is a rare, but wellknown complication occurring in an epidermal cyst. The mainstay of treatment consists of wide excision of cancerous lesion with primary reconstruction of the defect.

Trichilemmal cyst nevus: a new complex organoid epidermal nevus.

A 31-year-old woman had an organoid nevus characterized by multiple trichilemmal cysts arranged in a bandlike pattern. The involved streaks followed Blaschko's lines and were covered, in addition, by multiple filiform hyperkeratoses and comedo-like plugs. Some histopathologic features of this complex nevus were reminiscent of those of well-established organoid nevi such as nevus comedonicus, porokeratotic eccrine nevus, or hair follicle nevus, but the presence of multiple large trichilemmal cysts was a conspicuously distinctive abnormality. Consequently, we propose for this new organoid nevus

Case of constriction band syndrome with annular epidermal cyst.

Both intrinsic and extrinsic theories have been proposed to explain the etiology of congenital constriction band syndrome. The authors report a case of construction band syndrome in which an epidermal cyst was involved. It was located along the annular band of the affected finger and formed a complete ring. This case suggests that the epidermal cyst was produced by circumferential compression, advocating the extrinsic theory for this syndrome.
