OBJECTIVES: The aim of this study is to identify the molecular characteristics of erythromycin-resistant (Erm(r)) Streptococcus agalactiae strains and to correlate with the clinical origin of strains.

The aim of this study was to determine if erythromycin (EM), which is a potent motilin agonist, alters gastrointestinal motility in premature infants. Six infants who were born after 23-30 weeks gestation and weighed 825-1,408 g at birth were studied when 6-31 days old. Radiographic features of 71 patients (48 men, 23 women) with nosocomial Legionella pneumophila pneumonia were assessed and compared with those of other nosocomial series of L pneumophila pneumonia. Sixteen patients were assessed retrospectively and 55 prospectively. Chest radiographs were assessed at the onset of the illness, 10 days later, and at 3 months.
