A conifer twig was responsible for severe fibrinopyogranulomatous adhesive pleuritis and pneumonia in a horse. At necropsy, the twig was found in a terminal bronchus and extended into the lung parenchyma, through the pleura, and into the accumulated exudate. Inhalation of plant material may be a more common cause of pleuritis than previously recognized. Meticulous examination at necropsy would be necessary to make the diagnosis.

A 26-year-old woman consulted our Family Planning Unit because she could not locate the thread of her intrauterine device (IUD), which was placed 16 months earlier. Attempts to remove the IUD under fluoroscopy failed. A hysterography showed the IUD to be in the pelvis away from the uterus. At laparotomy, the IUD was found hidden in the omentum and its removal was done by resection of a piece of the omentum. The patient became pregnant three months later and gave birth to a healthy baby at term.

PURPOSE: Bullet fragment embolization is a rare but potentially fatal complication of traumatic gunshot injury. Herein, we present a case of a patient who demonstrated migration of a bullet fragment from the lower chest into the left common iliac vein. The aim of this study was to describe the anatomic locations and treatments available for deeply located vegetal foreign bodies in cats. Ten cases of migrating vegetal foreign bodies (vFBs) requiring surgical removal are reported. The types Dana super and Copper T intra-uterine devices (IUD) were reliably localised by ultrasonic B-scanning in 100 patients. Five dislocalisations were recorded and one erroneous interpretation in a case of uterus myomatosus. The method was found to be applicable to screening test and is recommended particularly for the following cases: clinically undetectable thread, following insertion, before removal of IUD, and in early pregnancy by the tenth gestational week.

A 40-year-old woman presented with the typical signs and symptoms of a Spigelian hernia. Upon operation, an inflammatory conglomerate tumor in the lower omentum was found, containing a copper T. Numerous accounts documenting the introduction of foreign bodies into the urinary bladder have been reported. These foreign bodies are typically self-inserted via urethral but migration from adjacent organs by an ulcerative process and penetrating injuries are also reported. However, ''contrary'' migration of a self-inflicted vesical foreign body to the retroperitoneum was not previously reported in literature. We report here a case of a ballpoint pen self-inserted via urethral by a female patient, which was identified in retroperitoneal position years later.

Spruce branch is a rare radiolucent bronchial foreign body. Despite modern imaging tests and endoscopic examination, this foreign body is often detected only intraoperatively. This study enrolled 4 patients with spruce branch aspiration. In the 4th case, spruce branch was removed during rigid bronchoscopy that was associated with «lodging» type of foreign body.
