A case of granuloma inguinale (GI) presenting as a lateral neck mass in a 4-month-old, HIV-positive infant is described. The histological features of the mass were typical of GI, with numerous macrophages containing intracellular organisms with a "closed-safety-pin" appearance. This is a rare occurrence, and the mode of transmission of infection is discussed. An awareness of GI in infants by both clinicians and pathologists is important to prevent morbidity and allow for prompt institution of appropriate treatment.

We report a new case of granuloma inguinale in France. A 47 years old Turkish man living in France for eight years had an ulcerovegetative lesion on the corona sulcus and inner aspect of the prepuce for three months. Donovanosis was established by granulation time smears and Giemsa's stain showing Donovan bodies inside large mononuclear cells. A case of granuloma inguinale of the oral cavity clinically resembling actinomycosis is reported. This condition should be considered in the differential diagnosis of chronic ulcerative lesions of the mouth, especially in patients with associated genital ulcers.

Thirty-six patients having granuloma inguinale were treated at the 483 USAF Hospital, Cam Ranh Bay, Republic of South Vietnam between October 1970 and September 1971. In 24 cases biopsy of the genital ulcerations revealed Donovan bodies pathognomonic for the disorder. The lesions generally did not heal during tetracycline therapy. An atypical case of the venereal disease granuloma inguinale, which is very rare in Scandinavia, is reported. The patient presented with recurrent perianal abscess and sinuses, and the diagnosis was not made until histologic examination of an extirpated subcutaneous nodule showed cells containing the pathognomonic Donovan bodies.
