A 51-year-old female developed urticarial lesions of her right forearm which progressed into transient edema and subcutaneous swelling. Later a small infiltrated subcutaneous nodule also appeared and was removed in toto. Histopathological examination revealed the presence of Dirofilaria repens. This worm is the cause of an endemic zoonosis in the Mediterranean area. In the past decade many cases have been reported worldwide, but the condition appears rare in Hungary and skin findings have not been described.

Six hundred fifty-one blood samples were collected from urban and rural dogs in various parts of Hungary to measure antibody levels to Babesia canis with indirect fluorescent antibody test. Thirty-seven (5.7%) of the sera showed positivity with titers between 1:80 and 1:10,240. Seroconverted dogs were found in 13 locations of the country. Clinical observations of Babesia canis infection in 63 dogs during a 1-year period are summarised, demonstrating the pathogenicity of the Babesia strain endemic in Hungary. Most patients had babesiosis in the spring and autumn, correlating with the seasonal activity of ticks. Male animals appeared in higher numbers, probably due to an overrepresentation of outdoor dogs. Hepatic tumors account for 0.5-2% of all childhood tumors in Hungary, based of the data last ten years. More than half of the cases were histologically malignant. The worldwide incidence of malignant hepatic tumors is 1.6 / 1 million. Here we present two patients with hepatoblastoma. In the first case the size of the initially inoperable tumor diminished following the chemotherapy and total surgical resection became possible. No sign of relapse occurred so far. The second case included a congenital hepatic tumor which was remarkable because of its unusual clinical presentation and histology.

The authors carried out a two-stage survey (screening and interview phase) among 538 medical students (248 males, 290 females) relating to eating attitudes and eating disorders. Three patients are reported whose symptoms were very similar to those described in mucocutaneous lymph nodes syndrome, a disease prevalent in Japan. In one case the disease was complicated by otomastoiditis which prolonged the course and reactivated the symptoms. In the other two cases recovery was uneventful. No epidemiological relation could be demonstrated among the cases. Prednisolone was administered to two patients with immediate antifebrile effect.

Dilated cardiomyopathy is the main cause of heart transplantation. The etiology is unknown in almost half of the cases. Many cardiac specific antibodies have been identified till now which can cause decreased cardiac function, ventricular tachycardia or sudden heart death. Localized scleroderma is an uncommon disease, only infrequently encountered by dermatologists in private practices or even in larger academic centers. Because of its rarity, current treatment guidelines are mostly based on low-level clinical evidence and expert opinions. The aim of this study was to investigate the prevalence and pattern of psychoactive substances among suspected DUID (Driving Under the Influence of Drugs) drivers in Hungary in 2014 and 2015. BACKGROUND: The two largest needle exchange programs (NEPs) in Hungary were forced to close down in the second half of 2014 due to extreme political attacks and related lack of government funding. Inorganic arsenic can get easily through the placenta however there are very few human data on congenital anomalies related to arsenic exposure. Objective of our study was to explore the associations between arsenic content of drinking water and prevalence of some congenital anomalies.
