Atresia of the colon represents the least common cause of neonatal intestinal obstruction, comprising less than 10 percent of gastrointestinal atresias. Eleven patients underwent surgical repair of colonic atresia during a 5 year period. Five of the patients were premature. Two had associated gastroschisis and other congenital anomalies were present in three patients. Hypaque enema was utilized to diagnose intestinal atresia and laparotomy was then undertaken. The literature contains contradictory reports on the psychiatric status of individuals with sexual dysfunction. As a step toward resolving the controversy the authors administered the SCL-90-R to a large series of patients who sought treatment for sexual disorders (N = 325). Contrary to the predisposition of many mental health professionals, this paper contends that insight-oriented, dynamically-based, individual psychotherapy is an effective treatment modality with the institutionalized elderly. Issues such as dependency, transference and countertransference, contrasts to psychotherapy with younger patients, and methodological modifications are discussed, and clinical examples are offered.

Assistive technology (AT) was recognized by Congress as a viable need for people with disabilities when it passed the Tech Act in 1988. The legislation, which was reauthorized in 1994, has resulted in numerous programs and services that have helped people with disabilities access and use AT devices. The Tech Act's implications for people with learning disabilities is discussed in this article.

BACKGROUND: Many individuals with migraine report symptoms of dry eye (DE). However, it is not known whether DE profiles are similar between individuals with and without migraine. To bridge this gap, we evaluated symptoms and signs of DE, including symptoms suggestive of nerve dysfunction, in a large group of individuals with DE symptoms, and compared profiles between individuals with migraine and those without migraine or headache.
