A Patient with Fatal Necrotizing Fasciitis following the Use of Intra-Articular Sodium Hyaluronate Injections: A Case Report.

Introduction. Osteoarthritis, a degenerative joint disease, is a key cause of disability around the world and an ever-growing public health concern. Intra-articular hyaluronic acid viscosupplementation is used as a conservative option for osteoarthritis knee pain relief (McArthur et al., 2012; Hootman and Helmick, 2006; Huang el al., 2011). In general, the literature has shown an excellent safety profile for this treatment modality (McArthur et al., 2012; Clegg et al., 2013; Hammesfahr et al., 2003; Neustadt et al., 2005; Cohen et al., 2008; Neustadt, 2003; Jüni et al., 2007; Peterson and Hodl

[Early results in the treatment of Legg-Calvé-Perthes disease using intra-articular injections of aqueous propolis extract].

Authors presented results in conservative treatment of 54 cases of hip joint with aseptic necrosis of thigh bone. In 22 hips, excluding the typical conservative treatment, EEP injections were given. However, in the remaining 32, different forms of relieve were used. The obtained results in the first group (A) confirm the purpose of enrichment in conservative treatment by adapting intra- articular injections of EEP especially in advanced stages of necrosis (III-IV period of illness) and also in those whose parents did not express their consent on surgery in the early stage of the illness.

Efficacy of Intra-articular Platelet-Rich Fibrin Injection for Periarthritis of the Shoulder: A Pilot Study.

Background Periarthritis of the shoulder (adhesive capsulitis) is a common and disabling condition characterized by pain and progressive restriction of shoulder motion. Conventional treatment modalities often provide inconsistent long-term outcomes. Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) is an autologous biological product with regenerative and anti-inflammatory properties, though evidence for its intra-articular use in periarthritis remains limited. Objective To evaluate the clinical outcomes and safety of a single intra-articular injectable PRF (i-PRF) injection in patients with periarthritis of the sho

Intra-Articular Injection of PLGA/Polydopamine Core-Shell Nanoparticle Attenuates Osteoarthritis Progression.

Osteoarthritis (OA) is a common joint disease characterized by progressive cartilage degeneration. Unfortunately, currently available clinical drugs are mainly analgesics and cannot alleviate the development of OA. Kartogenin (KGN) has been found to promote the differentiation of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) into chondrocytes for the treatment of cartilage damage in early OA. However, KGN, as a small hydrophobic molecule, is rapidly cleared from the synovial fluid after intra-articular injection. This study synthesized a KGN-loaded nanocarrier based on PLGA/polydopamine core/shel

Comparison of Intra-articular Knee Injection of Corticosteroid between Hemodialysis and Non-hemodialysis Patients.

INTRODUCTION: Hemodialysis patients have various complications, and orthopedic diseases include carpal tunnel syndrome, spinal canal stenosis, spondylosis destruction, fractures, and osteoarthritis. As a treatment for knee osteoarthritis, intra-articular injections of hyaluronic acid and steroids are performed. In general, steroid injections have a strong short-term anti-inflammatory effect, but there is a risk of complications, such as infection. In addition to aging, dialysis patients are prone to weakened immune systems and susceptibility to infection. Therefore, more attention should be pa

Cytokine Profiling and Intra-Articular Injection of Autologous Platelet-Rich Plasma in Knee Osteoarthritis.

Osteoarthritis (OA) is a degenerative joint disease leading to joint pain and stiffness. Due to lack of effective treatments, physical and psychological disabilities caused by OA have a detrimental impact on the patient's quality of life. Emerging evidence suggests that intra-articular injection of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) may provide favorable results since PRP comprises not only a high level of platelets but also a huge amount of cytokines, chemokines, and growth factors. However, the precise mechanism and standardization method remain uncertain. This study aimed to examine cytokine profil
