Large intestinal adenocarcinoma with osseous metaplasia was diagnosed in two horses, a 15-year-old standard bred gelding and a 9-year-old Haflinger mare. Clinically, both animals had displayed weight loss and anaemia. A presumptive diagnosis of abdominal neoplasia was made and the horses were humanely killed. At necropsy, the gelding and the mare were found to have ulcerated tumours growing into the lumen of the caecum and colon, respectively. BACKGROUND: The prevalence of intestinal metaplasia (IM) in underlying Helicobacter pylori gastritis was studied in 1446 patients.
METHODS: Antral and body mucosa biopsy specimens (stains: hematoxylin and eosin, Warthin-Starry) were taken from five groups of patients: gastritis with no lesions, gastritis with duodenal, pyloric, or gastric ulcers or with chronic antral erosions.

Urachal adenocarcinoma is a rare bladder tumor, occasionally associated with calcification. We report a case of urachal adenocarcinoma with remarkable stromal osseous metaplasia and review the literature on this rare condition. This is the first complete case report in English of this uncommon entity.

In connection with the recently commenced decline of death rate for gastric cancer in Japan, the time trend of intestinal metaplasia of the stomach among the Japanese is investigated. Invasive epidermoid carcinoma of the urinary bladder is described in a young woman with a long history of bladder infections and extensive squamous metaplasia without atypia. The literature on squamous metaplasia and leukoplakia progressing to epidermoid carcinoma of the chronic dysuria, bladder infections, and long histories of squamous metaplasia of the bladder should be followed up very closely. If epidermoid carcinoma of the bladder develops, they should undergo radical surgery.

Copper sulphate, phenyl hydrazine and antiserum were administered to adult albino rats to produce equivalent haemolysis. Red pulp activity was studied for myeloid metaplasia after 24, 48 and 72 h, 5 and 7 days. Myeloid metaplasia was not related to the marginal zone proliferation. A 69-year-old woman with a history of acute generalized exanthematic pustulosis (AGEP) caused by metamizole is described.
