Computational musculoskeletal modeling represents a valuable approach to examining biological systems in physical anthropology. Probabilistic modeling builds on computational musculoskeletal models by associating mathematical distributions of specific musculoskeletal features within known ranges of biological variability with functional outcomes. The purpose of this study was to determine if overlap in rotator cuff muscle force predictions would occur between species during the performance of an evolutionarily relevant horizontal bimanual arm suspension task. This necessitated creating novel p

BACKGROUND: In 2023, firefighters in Seoul responded to over two million emergency calls, exposing them to substantial physical and psychological strain. This working environment increases the risk of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) and occupational stress. To address these issues, the Seoul Metropolitan Fire & Disaster Headquarters (SMFDH) piloted a manual therapy program provided at fire stations. To our knowledge, this manuscript is the first report describing the feasibility of such an intervention in fire stations. METHODS: From 11 June to 6 December 2024, one Korean Medicine (KM) doctor

In response to Australian media coverage that attributed violent attacks to steroids, a new law targeting androgenic anabolic steroids was introduced in 2014, reclassifying steroids as a narcotic and punishing illicit users with lengthy jail terms. Stereotypes about the users were imputed to be the drug's effects: when used by young men, steroids achieved symbolic status as a substance symptomatic of pathological masculinity, but when used by ageing men, steroids were portrayed as a benign medication helping those deficient in testosterone to achieve normality. While drug historians have shown

OBJECTIVE: Cervical spine surgeries for degenerative conditions are rapidly increasing. Cervical post-surgery syndrome consisting of chronic pain, adjacent segment disease, recurrent disc herniation, facet joint pain, and/or epidural scarring is common. Repeat surgery is regularly recommended, though patients are often unable to undergo or decline further surgery. Manual therapy is included in clinical practice guidelines for neck pain and related disorders, however clinical guidance for utilization of manual therapy in adults with prior cervical spine surgery is lacking. This study aimed to s
