The progressive increase in the number of people traveling to tropical countries has led to imported diseases becoming of increasingly greater importance. Cutaneous myasis (or fly larva infestations) are found among this type of diseases particularly frequent in tropical countries. Based on the observation of a case of massive cutaneous myasis by Cordylobia antropophaga of a 34 year old woman upon her return from a trip to Senegal, a review has been made of the major cases of furunculoid cutaneous myasis published in Spain, as well as of the biology, pathology, treatment and prevention of huma

We must consider: -- Superficial ocular myiasis affecting the lacrymal cul-de-sac and ducts and caused by oestridae larvae growing on conjunctiva or lacrymal ducts. -- Deep ocular myiasis affecting either the eyelids or the ocular globe and due to larvae pertaining to several families of flies and requiring an anaerobic phase in their development. This type of myiasis must be separated in two groups according to their localization in the camera anterior or in the camera posterior. Oral myiasis is a rare condition in humans and is associated with poor oral hygiene, severe halitosis, mouth breathing during sleep, mental handicap, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, anterior open bite, incompetent lips, and other conditions. In this report, a 14 year-old boy who had an orofacial trauma in the maxillary dentoalveolar region, which was neglected, has been described. There was a deep lacerated wound on the upper vestibule which was infected and maggots were found on the same wound. The clinical features, management, treatment are discussed and relevant literature is reviewed.
