METHOD: To measure the olfactory nerves, the olfactory bulb, and olfactory tract on 16 adult cadaveric specimens, and observe the relation of the olfactory nerves, the optic nerve,and the nasal sinuses.
RESULT: Length of the olfactory tract was (29.32 +/- 2.11) mm, width of the olfactory tract was (3.36 +/- 0.83) mm. The distance from the midpoint of the olfactory tract to the midline of the skull was (5.48 +/- 1.02) mm

A 62-year-old man presented with a 3-week history of a progressive right vision loss. His right optic disk showed some mild elevation. Automated perimetry revealed a junctional scotoma. Magnetic resonance imaging of the brain showed enlargement and enhancement of the right optic nerve, chiasm, and proximal optic tract. A chiasmal biopsy revealed a lesion consistent with malignant optic glioma of adulthood.

In our work, the lipid peroxidation (LPO) in the retina, optic chiasma, and visual cortex of rat and rabbit brain was investigated. The anterior optic pathways are rarely affected by vascular malformations. In a meticulous literature review, 42 published cases of patients with vascular malformations within optic nerves, chiasma and/or optic tract were found, 30 of them being diagnosed as cavernous haemangiomas. OBJECTIVE: Ophthalmic artery aneurysms with medial and superior projection in exceptionally rare cases can split the optic nerve. Treatment of these aneurysms is challenging, because the aneurysm dome is hidden from the optic nerve, rendering its visualization and clipping confirmation difficult. The consequences of sleep apneas in patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) syndrome may influence the function of visual system. We present a case of an adult patient experiencing progressive visual loss. An initial presentation was concerning for neuromyelitis optica with optic chiasm involvement. However, persistent contrast enhancement observed in follow-up brain and orbit images raised suspicion for optic tract malignant neoplasm. Histopathological evolution of optic nerve biopsy confirmed the diagnosis of an optic chiasm glioma. The patient was then referred to oncology for chemotherapy.
