Three patients with atypical presentation of female genital tract tuberculosis are reported. Tuberculous hydrosalpinx with abdominal peritonitis, concomitant ectopic gestation with active salpingitis and tuberculous endometritis presenting as postmenopausal vaginal discharge are uncommon clinical manifestations. The age distribution, the importance of careful histological examination and the available methods for follow-up are discussed in the appropriate cases.

About 11 000 autopsies were done in Darmstadt from 1955 to 1977; 879 (8%) of the cases had had peritonitis. The incidence of acute peritonit … ronic sequels of peritonitis. Finally some special forms of peritonitis are discussed: Foreign body peritonitis, tuberculous peritonitis, peritoneal metastases, retroperitoneal fibrosis and peritonitis of the newborn.

A 26-year-old man presented to the Emergency Department with abdominal pain, diarrhoea, anorexia and haematemesis. The patient was previously diagnosed with latent tuberculosis (TB). On examination, his abdomen was diffusely tender, with localised guarding in the right iliac fossa. CT imaging of his abdomen and pelvis demonstrated a low volume of ascites, diffuse studding of the peritoneum, omental caking and several bulky low-density lymph nodes in the retroperitoneum. A laparoscopy was performed to obtain a peritoneal biopsy. Histology demonstrated fragments of peritoneum with necrotising gr

UNLABELLED: Tuberculosis is a public health problem. The most common presentation is pulmonary disease. The diagnosis of any extrapulmonary forms are quite difficult. Clinical manifestations of gastrointestinal tuberculosis are non-specific and compatible with pathologies such as inflammatory bowel disease, advanced ovarian cancer, deep mycosis, yersinia infection and amebomas. Abdominal form is located at 6th place of the extrapulmonary forms, after lymphatic, genitourinary, osteoarticular, miliary and meningeal infections. Eventually, 25 to 75% of patients with abdominal tuberculosis will re

We report laparoscopic findings in 38 proven cases of peritoneal tuberculosis. The laparoscopic appearances can be classified into three types: thickened peritoneum with miliary yellowish white tubercles with or without adhesions (n = 25), only thickened peritoneum with or without adhesions (n = 8), and fibroadhesive pattern (n = 5). Biopsies were avoided from fibroadhesive lesions due to risk of complications. Visual diagnosis was accurate in 95% of patients. In comparison, in 27 (82%) of 33 patients, the examination enabled a histologic diagnosis to be made on the basis of typical granulomas

Peritoneal tuberculosis is a rare form of tuberculosis which gives a non-specific clinical picture which can be confused with several digestive pathologies. It can also mimic ovarian cancer at the stage of peritoneal carcinomatosis, hence the interest sometimes of a diagnostic laparoscopy which makes it possible to make the diagnosis which is confirmed by an anatomo-pathological study. This is the case of our patient who was initially diagnosed with ovarian cancer and the diagnosis was corrected in peritoneal tuberculosis after a laparoscopy.

AIM: To undertake a systematic review and meta-analysis of the diagnostic performance of CT for differentiating peritoneal tuberculosis (PTB) from peritoneal carcinomatosis (PC).
MATERIAL AND METHODS: PubMed, Embase, the Web of Science, and the Cochrane Library were searched for papers published before 23 July 2019. The methodological quality of the studies was analysed. Overlapping descriptors used in different studies to denote the same image finding were subsumed under a single CT feature. Sensitivity, specificity, and positive and negative likelihood ratios were pooled. A summary receiver

A child with granulomatous peritonitis caused by ascariasis is described. Laparotomy revealed no obvious evidence of intestinal perforation. It is postulated that a worm escaped through the appendicular tip, causing transient peritonitis followed by adhesions and granulomatas in the peritoneal cavity.

Abdominal tuberculosis is usually associated to pulmonary tuberculosis. The most frequent gastrointestinal form is ulcerative illeocecal tuberculosis. Esophageal, gastric and duodenal locations are rare; jejunal and proximal ileal tuberculosis are rare during tuberculous peritonitis. The most common form with liver and spleen involvement is miliary tuberculosis, the macronodular form being rare. Tuberculous peritonitis is a common manifestation of abdominal tuberculosis with various aspects according to the presence of ascitis and the predominant fibrotic reaction. Most common abdominal manife

Tuberculous granuloma must be considered in the differential diagnosis of pelvic masses in women of reproductive age because the major sequela of pelvic tuberculosis is infertility; however, currently there is very little information about its fertility-preserving treatment. We report the case of a woman with a history of tuberculous peritonitis who referred to our hospital for evaluation of an adnexal mass and primary infertility. The patient underwent excision of pelvic tuberculous granuloma with fertility-preserving laparoscopic surgery. We resected as much of the tuberculous granuloma as p

INTRODUCTION: Infections are recognized as major complications during therapy with biologics and other immunosuppressant drugs. The respiratory tract, bone, joint, skin, and soft tissues are well known sites of infection in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) treated by biologics or other immunosuppressants. It is known that patients with intra-abdominal infections may develop tuberculous peritonitis during biologic therapy. However, non-tuberculous pelvic peritonitis is rare.
CASE DESCRIPTION: A case of a 46-year-old patient with RA developed pelvic peritonitis during therapy with MTX, t

In the paper, data on 502 patients with abdominal tuberculosis are reported, including 21--with perforative peritonitis due to the perforation of tuberculous intestinal ulcers. In its manifestations perforative peritonitis may show a latent or "an acute abdomen" course. Among 12 operated patients there were 5 lethal issues. Such high postoperative mortality is accounted for late terms of establishing the correct diagnosis and admission of patients in a poor and hopeless condition.
