Assessment of Self-Medication Behaviour in Response to Dental Pain in Two Populations, France.

INTRODUCTION AND AIMS: Self-medication appears to be a common practice for dental pain. However, in France, its prevalence and patterns in dentistry have never been studied. The primary objective was to assess the prevalence and self-medication behaviours in two at-risk populations: patients consulting for acute pulpal or periapical pain and patients with dental anxiety requiring treatment under general anaesthesia. The secondary objective was to examine the influence of socio-behavioural factors on these practices. METHOD: Between April 2021 and May 2023, the behaviours of two at-risk popula

Deprescribing in Hospice and Palliative Care: A Rapid Review of Clinical Tools, Nursing Practice Considerations, and Nursing Policy Implications.

Adults with serious illnesses and limited life expectancy often continue medications with little meaningful benefit, contributing to polypharmacy, adverse drug events, patient distress, and caregiver burden. In hospice and palliative care, deprescribing is a systematic, patient-centered process used when medication-related harms outweigh potential benefits. This rapid review examined contemporary evidence on deprescribing practices for adults with serious illnesses, with emphasis on medication burden, deprescribing patterns, current tools and frameworks, and the nursing role in leading, coordi

From prescription patterns to drug safety: a closer look at non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and analgesics in outpatient pharmacy.

INTRODUCTION: Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medicines (NSAIDs) help to lower inflammation and pain, but improper prescription can cause potential drug-drug interactions (pDDIs), affecting the therapeutic outcomes. Given the great frequency of polypharmacy and concomitant medication interactions, NSAID-related problems are especially pertinent in outpatient settings. This study aims to assess the prescription pattern of NSAIDs at the Outpatient Pharmacy Department of a Secondary Care Hospital in the Northern Emirates of the United Arab Emirates. METHODS: A prospective observational study bas
